fabulous fabrics.

i love this couch below, i want this couch...or at the very least the fabric. and in every color!

silks and velvets and wallpapers oh my! septembers issue of architectural digest led me to osborne and little's fabric and wallpaper site. i was in love with the offerings. they carry their own line as well as lines by others such as nina campbell, liberty furnishings and lorca. while going over the lines of wallpapers and fabrics i couldn't help but want to reach out and touch the rich textures and colors. with so many fabulous fabrics out there it makes me want to learn how to re-upholster a couch! and for every season or something like that. if it was easy i would...but i'm sure it's not. peter osborne and antony little opened a small showroom in london's chelsea in 1968. starting out with exquisite hand printed wallpapers, they were in instant success. "the company then expanded its product range to include fabrics, trimmings, furniture and accessories." their usa head office is in connecticut and can be reached through their site. if i was let loose in their showroom i'm sure more than just my couch would be in for a makeover. the velvets were my favorites, i love texture!

creative solutions in glass.

ok so fusion glass may be located in the uk but i had to feature them. first saw them in an architectural magazine and my mouth dropped to the floor thinking of the possibilities. also what a great medium to work with and again, adds another texture to your space whether it's commercial or residential. think residential: could a decorative hunk of this beautiful glass be a wall instead of the typical wall? and commercially: they have fashioned walls, desks (big desks), divider walls for gardens, water fountains and so on and so on. this is nothing either, they offer many gorgeous textures, shapes, thicknesses and sizes. "fusion glass is an innovative design based company with an unrivalled reputation as one of the world's leading decorative structural architectural glass companies." they aren't kidding. one stop at the fusion glass website and they will put on a show for you. a beautiful flash show with projects they've done, commission work and standard products that they offer, just flashing before your eyes whispering "hey, see this, see that, think of what we could do for you!" i'm already thinking...

m o n d a y.

can you spell monday? well jacquelyn lee can. she can spell anything you'd like through her unique photography located and available through her etsy site, jacquelyn lee photography. during college at baylor, jacquelyn lee was fortunate enough to have "photo assignments featuring public figures such as president bush, russian president putin, bill cosby and troy aikman." with her current photographs, think about it...the possibilities are really endless on what you could purchase and display her letters to spell. spell out and display your words horizontally or vertically on a wall space. over a mantel, over a sitting area, over a bed, over just about anything you desire. her photographs lend themselves to both commercial as well as residential spaces. they are vintage and timeless and are taken from signs or buildings that housed and produced interesting objects and people throughout time. she has captured time in letters and now finds herself "incorporating all of my past experiences into my photography today: capturing innocence, glamour, artistry, photojournalism and the love of the natural beauty of life." what would you spell and where would you place your word? the possibilities are endless...

lighten up.

i have to say i've never been a big fan of table lamps. why? because so many are typical and boring. then i found lighten up design. lighten up design created by lisa goldberg in 2004. lisa currently lives and designs in brooklyn new york. after years of working in the advertising/marketing corporate world she broke out on her own, going back to her craft...her art. i love the simplicity and organic shape of many of her lights, vases and tableware. glossy, clean lines which when placed in the right space would not interrupt an environent but help to accent the space, acting not only as a table lamp but as added sculpture. lisa says that "light, color and art have an enormous impact on the way we experience a room. our original goal was to turn the utilitarian lamp into a beautiful sculpture that would add panache and elegance to any space." yeah, what she said. lighten up design accomplishes their goal of lightening up the world of lamps.

daisy cake chain art.

i have a love of commercial design as well as residential. there are so many opportunities with both types of spaces. i'm always trying to inspire us to understand the possibilities and know that there is so much out there whether it's lighting, wall treatments or decor. i also love love love texture. love rooms and spaces with a mixture of textures whether it be different fabrics, metal, stone, wood etc. just lots of texture. keeps it interesting, keeps your eyes moving around a room. daisycake will definitely add that texture you are looking for to your personal or professional space. this company, located in arizona, specializes in chain art. yes, chain art. their prices are surprisingly reasonable and the extruded aluminum wire used in the link fabrication contains as high as possible a percentage of recycled metal. their chains are also recyclable when you are finished with them. they encourage you to provide your own art or logo, they will then provide you with a sample of the outcome before shipping and will also send samples and pricing beforehand. how fun to have a company logo, design, photo portrayed on these chain curtains. and for your home, how about using one of these curtains as a room divider? so many options, so many textures when designing, so much fun!

ghislaine vinas interiors.

here above, ghislaine stated that her client loved the idea of a photo mural on this wall and she asked them to bring her some photo ideas, when she saw the milk she said stop. that's it! she said immediately she envisioned the entire room in white with those drop lights, perfect.

how delish to sit it these little handfuls by the fire.

above, there are those aqua creations lights again, i soooooo love those.

ok, how about those bedroom lights? i must know where to find those.

i first came across ghislaine in interior design magazine (this month's issue) and noticed she was being featured by one of the writers. one click to her web page blew my senses away! probably one of the most talented designers i've noticed, her daring and wise use of color choices stood out immediately but at the same time she was not afraid to use lots of whites and neutrals. simply amazing. "born in the netherlands and raised in south africa, ghislaine brings a special blend of international sensibility, intuitive style, humor and refreshing enthusiasm to her work." (to say the least...) remember i mentioned her use of color, she goes on to explain that "color excites me. as a child i would feel a rush of excitement while opening a box of crayons." well, i felt a rush of excitement opening her web page and i believe you will too. there is much to learn from her design and color sense and much inspiration to be had. it is a must to explore.

welcome to the stone forest.

oh my gosh, i'm in dreamland. if these were in my bathroom i would eat, sleep and never leave that room, ever. i'm not kidding! wow. the stone forest is an amazing site of chunky yet delicate simply stated wares for your kitchen, bath or perhaps even outside... or plunk one of these tubs in a sun room, can you imagine? located in santa fe new mexico, stone forest offers everything from these pedestal sinks and hand-carved granite sculptural tubs, to tableware and custom designs to meet your needs. order color samples or material samples and dream away. "in a world of impermanence, the timelessness of hand carved granite can bring a suggestion of eternity to your home or garden." not a bad place to spend eternity. what do you think?
