how kind of cool is this entry way/hallway setting, with all of that white, with all of those neon pink lines? so cool, that's what....

entrez-vous. mid~day entry inspiration.

today i was taken back by the these 2 exquisite entry ways found via bolaget. the perfect use of every inch, creating a mood in an otherwise typical space.

from that coat/boot closet in the top photo to that tord boontje light in the second. these entry ways invite you in, to stay a while, they are warm, interesting, and just so really fabulous. don't you think? love it!

ok friends, i'm on my way up to boston, snow boots in the car because the weather people are calling for a sloppy night of rain and snow. darn, and i just bought the cutest zebra striped with red piping flats. darn again. another day perhaps ;) enjoy!!

entry into the week.

another fresh start to the week friends, no doubt about it! that's always a good thing. so, with a sunny (at least in my part of the world) entry into the week, i thought i'd share some gorgeous entry/hallways that bolig magasinet recently featured...

i've always been intrigued by small spaces like entry ways and hallways and what can be and has been done with them. these spaces can be somewhat telling about the rest of any space, residential or commercial, don't you think? so, as they can be telling, they should be taken seriously (well, sort of ), design~wise anyway...after all, look at what can be achieved!

i'm off to the beach with my son (we have a rare day off together), to read, eat, swim, play a competitive round of chess and doze off hopefully. how is your entry into this week, this monday morning starting out? hoping it is all positive! enjoy...

around the we (heart) it block.

i love discussing design. with anyone and everyone! one thing i have a hard time describing, not understanding, but describing is my style, which is a very "put together space". what i mean is that i don't draw up an entire space, all at once, on a computer...then voila, complete. i just can't. a space evolves, it's almost like when i paint, you keep building, adding, taking away, changing, manipulating, until you feel as if you should stop, that it is what it was supposed to be. finally.

i (heart) this site, "we heart it" for so many of those reasons. they collect image upon image of put together spaces. chunks of old buildings, to new, modern twists to found objects and anything in between. there is absolutely one way to create the most interesting space you can and that is by slowly building it up, piece by piece, color upon color, texture added, texture taken away, lighting changes, hardware changes, mixing the generations of furniture, it gets to a point where it just feels right. finished, at least for the time being :)

hoping your thursday finds you putting together fabulous spaces, or at least gathering all of those ideas i mentioned. check out we (heart) it if you haven't already for gobs of inspiration on doing things a little bit differently. enjoy!

heck of a hallway.

it's funny because one of, no let me rephrase, the area in my little cottage that, for lack of a better word "bugs" me, is indeed my little hallway. when i painted my living room that warm, very light grey and my ceiling super dark grey, i loved it, and still do. but i continued it down the hallway and now i'm thinking it's really a space of its own. it needs its own feel, its own color palette, and decor. so, thanks to bolig's on line magazine and their hallway feature, i'm truly inspired!

many of you must have some sort of hallway right? what are your thoughts? what have you done differently with your hallway. mine right now, feels like a blank canvas, which is kind of fun. i'm imagining that i could hang a seriously large piece of artwork on the wall, or mirror (i love giant mirrors), the possibilities are endless really. so now, in between all of my other creative thoughts in life, the hallway is on the list. enjoy!
