adding texture with crochet.

as i calculate ways to add texture to wardrobes or interior spaces, i think that the texture crochet adds is interesting and fun...

i don't know how to crochet, but i do appreciate the art and style that it adds to just about anything and everything. these were a few recent favorites i had saved. enjoy!

a wow wood space.

this apartment located in spain and designed by diaz y diaz arquitectos is swathed in wood, beautiful wood. classically lined, fresh and certainly warm, wood supports these spaces, sometimes fluidly, from floor to ceiling, as in the kitchen, wood leads you here, it is inviting, it is conspicuous and deliberate without being overpowering.

mixing soft and chunky with intricate and elaborate patterns such as some of the floor work, wood was considered important, and it should have been.

the balance comes with the white walls throughout, and the color palette is repeated and remembered with the white lighting eminating within the entire apartment, to the bathroom sinks which sink into wooden bases and the white closet lined hallway. anything else would have taken away from the beauty of the wood, it's palette and the wonderful texture that it offers.

instead these spaces glow, they are inspiring and clean. and lovely. enjoy!

the ray bathroom.

i really don't post alot about bathroom fixtures or accessories, and i'm not sure why. maybe most just don't strike me or move me enough to say "hey, this bathroom fixture is amazing and here's why." but these ceramic sinks designed by michael hilgers and offered up soon at ex.t shop stopped me.
i came upon the ray bathroom ceramic line first over on gblog and instantly wanted to share. the tapered wooden legs holding that soft, rounded corner ceramic basin, well i just think this entire design is beautifully done. view more images here. in one image...the on/off lever is attached to the wall instead of the basin, even prettier! enjoy...

copper bathtubs. & metals in general.

hi friends and happy monday! i wanted to take a break from my break to share with you a fabulous company, chock full of amazing bathtubs, offering you a giant variety of options if you are renovating or building, residential or commercial spaces. and my favorite from victorian bathrooms? the copper bathtubs. why? you cannot get any more luxurious!

do you have a bathtub? i rent a little cottage that has been without a tub, much to my dismay. having always been a serious lover of the tub, this has to be remedied one day soon.

one thing i really enjoy considering for tub options is the texture that metal adds to the space. and copper? there is something so natural, so warm and exciting about the material, about the metal. add that to a bathtub? and you have down right spectacular! enjoy...

designing in tile.

i love the thought of designing with different mediums, from wood to metals to tile. tile to me, offers a unique textural experience when placed in any space, residential or commercial, indoors or outdoors. there is something so natural yet so artistic about designing with tile.

travertine tiles offer an array of fine tiles, for indoor or outdoor ideas. travertine floor tiles are expressive, artisitc and durable. imagine dark and moody black marbled tiles, in a kitchen or bathroom? or effect tiles, that offer a wood or stone effect? or how about all white subway tiles to create an ethereal, clean, crisp atmosphere? the possibilities are really endless! whether considering indoor or outdoor spaces, tile offers and creates an expressive, dramatic presence.

either creating amazing patterns or simply left to its own natural pattern, the versatility and complex nature of tile is fabulous for use in designing. travertine tile flooring offers an array of interesting choices.

think texture, think of utilizing the many different mediums out there when designing your spaces, tile can be an exceptional choice! enjoy...
