monday impact

why not start of the week with some impact furniture? i have just the line, offered up by the french luxury design line of hervé van der straeten, chock full of "bold variations of form, contrasting materials and defiant, pure volumes"....
(via)
hervé van der straeten first became known for his jewelry design and collection...but has since gained considerable attention for his works in bronze, glass, porcelain as well as a variety of other exquisite materials incorporating those into a very special furniture and lighting design line.

in my opinion there are times when designing residential or commercial interiors, that the space actually begs for a wow piece, something special to take center stage, or to ground the space, or to throw it off, perfectly. hervé van der straeten's designs are simply wow, in material, in design, in the overall presence each offers to any space. i love that! enjoy...

maruni in blue.

this blue fabric and oak seating offered up by maruni and recently displayed at the tokyo design fair are understated & lovely.
i especially love the way in which all of that blue is presented against white painted walls, highlighting an already gorgeous design.

happy monday friends! how was your weekend? i hope you are ready for a fresh start to a brand new week. it's going to be a great day, you'll see...enjoy.

council. good design.

happy monday morning friends! i wanted to share some really good design offered up by the designers at council. council prides itself on creating each piece with " the purest expression of its original design concept." oh, and just really good design.
for some reason this monday morning, i'm loving council's pieces all in white. there is a simmering quietness with council's pieces. yet the quiet is thrown of with interesting curves and connections, separations of wood, as in their bench stools. little subtleties that draw you in, noticing the melting pot of designers from around the world that council utilizes. you can tell...

how was your weekend? mine was busy but i did manage to sip a glass of red wine (yeah, that wasn't hard), visit my son at college and take him to dinner, annnnnnddddddd.....spent a couple of hours on the beach reading for class. at least it was at the beach ;) enjoy!

willy guhl. concrete loop chair.

i'm finding these willy guhl chairs super interesting and intriguing this monday morning. stil inspiration featured/styled this chair, check it out here.
from the organic shape to the natural color palette, these chairs are eye~catching. even deviating from an obvious space such as a patio or deck, and plunking one smack dab down in the middle of a bedroom or bathroom would be really fun!

how was your weekend friends? mine was busy, busy, but mixed in was alot of fun too. i hope you are feeling rested, energized and ready to get your week going...enjoy!

favorite new shelving ideas.

it seems so industrial or even boring to talk about shelving or storage space ideas. but let me change that for you. i've rounded up some fab new favorites, from different designers, different companies and styles to be sure. but all very non~boring my friends! promise. have a look...

this particular shelving design is one of my new favorites. designed and offered up by j1 studio, the functional yet sculptural quality is beyond attractive.
jagged, disjointed, interesting and all on purpose are these shelves found over at chris ruhe's studio.
now this is the epitomy of doing things differently, especially when it comes to shelving or storage ideas. have a small space to fill or a small space in general? how about hanging your shelving? up? like i said, doing it differently. these floating shelves are offered up by adrien de melo studio.
the herky~jerky motion of this fun modular shelf space, offered up by kompott is fabulous because you can configure it just about any way/shape/form your little heart desires.
i am really drawn to the simplicity & the medium of these framed shelves offered up by presse citron. lacquered steel and perfectly ready to frame your favorite objects d'art no?
and lastly, i'm also saving as one of my new favorites, the moroccan magic of these brilliantly beautiful shelves designed and offered up by younes design. i could stare at these for hours.
so, what do you think? are you drawn to any of these unusual/unique designs? and if so, which ones? i'd love to hear. the top and bottom are my favorites. and by that i mean that i can most certainly see one of them in my home, and for the long term. easily too! enjoy..

monday & sancal tables. their sweet spot

happy monday friends! i wanted to share a fab find with you today, though i have featured sancal in the past, for me, their one sweet spot, is their array of interesting and just really fabulous tables.

residentially, sancal admits to wishing to contribute to "intelligent homes," and for commercial spaces, sancal strives to create "pleasant spaces" in public spaces. on that note, here are few of my absolute favorites offered up by sancal...

i'm not exactly sure why i'm so drawn to sancal's line of tables, they do offer plenty of other fabulous product to be sure, but perhaps it's just that, the line in their design. for residential use, sancal designs are swift, clear, direct and easy to imagine your own. to finish them yourselves, to place this and that on or around them. it's easy to do. and that's good! commercially they are also very interesting because placed in public spaces, it would be intriguing to notice random and spontaneous interaction with their pieces. i love that!

how was your weekend friends? mine was really great. my son was home from college, i got outdoors, alot. i worked on course work, a little. drank more coffee than i needed, just because it was so good. and bought new white sheets that made me soooo happy. hey, it's the little things sometimes ;) enjoy your monday start!

the brick house. easy monday inspiration.

welcome to the first monday of the new year friends! another fresh start to not only a new year but a new week, my favorite day of the week. i find i feel most inspired and energetic on mondays. i suppose it's because you just don't know what exciting events, ideas or projects are in store for you, it's all so very exciting!

today, as i sip coffee and ease into this week after a fabulous holiday season, i'm easily inspired and enjoying the design selections the brick house's tumblr site holds. if you are in need of a design boost, sip your coffee while perusing their archive too. a sweet way to start your day, enjoy!!

happy monday & segis.

after a visit to segis's site and company (based out of italy but also with a production unit out of tennessee, so they are accessible here!), i did notice that much of their product, while highly commercial based, definitely lends itself to residential as well. here are a few of my favorite segis pieces...

i am drawn to they way the segis pieces are cut, angled, shaped and formed. as if any one of their pieces is really part of one larger puzzle, that somehow, all of it comes together in some larger way. it's all very cool, with modern twists on many classical designs. inventive and interesting. so, if you are in the market right now to build up your commercial spaces, segis has so many options from an amazing array of stools to larger, modular seating options.

and for residential spaces, much of segis's product, even one piece here and there would make for a fun and creative feel to any space, whether it be the kitchen or living room or bathroom.

how is your monday starting out friends? i'm eating dry cheerios straight out of the box, the sun is at my back and i'm preparing to complete one last paper due for class this week. i may get out for a mid~day run for energy, it's a perfect running day, the weather is crisp and cool and sunny. enjoy!!
