workstead

i've featured much of the greatness that comes out of the brooklyn-based (and charleston south carolina) design studio workstead before, but whenever they pull at my light loving heartstrings with new works, i just have to share...
and it doesn't stop there, with lighting i mean. workstead designs fabulous furniture options in a palette that is "strong and rich, yet simple and efficient." don't you just love that? see more, way more of what workstead offers up, here. for when you want to go off the grid, out of the box, purchase something handmade, something a little more special. yeah, like that. enjoy!

new pillow love

in love with these batik pillows, with their bold lines and surprising color combinations today...
the batik fabric is purchased at the kejetia market in ghana and the pillows made by a family run business in new jersey. it's amazing how connected we all in such simple ways sometimes. i love that, and i love these. see more here & enjoy!

p.s. read more about the kejetia market here.

bddw, hand-crafted american furniture

the small american furniture company bddw offers up "well crafted, timeless designs" by designer tylerr hays, handmade in his philadelphia studio. i think what i'm drawn to most is the rich crafted use of materials first and then the superbly original twist on classic designs with a lovely edginess to them...
"bddw is constantly producing new and innovative work" and you can tell that there is a sort of freedom of design going on here, a confidence in a sole designer, surrounded by a team of talented craftsmen. i love that, and i really love this line. see more of what bddw offers up here, & enjoy!

i am seriously loving the sleek console and table designs of london-based bethan gray. and that ombre jade green cabinet below? the look is created by hand using a technique called stain shading with a brass overlay creating the really gorgeous contemporary pattern. it's all just pure love...
