hoping you are all having a cozy weekend. with the winter weather and the news, i'm more than ever drawn to curling up at home, lighting more candles than i should and surrounding myself with protective spaces, spaces that warm my mind mostly. if that makes sense. 

what are you up to this weekend? i've been writing, feeling a few hours of oil painting coming on and have some of my favorite ipa's (trying this new one this weekend too)  in the fridge. i hope that wherever you are and whatever you are doing this weekend you are feeling safe and cozy warm. and some fun finds from around the world wide web if you want:

hi, how are you?

this quiet time we are all in is something that we have all probably never experienced in our lifetime. i feel like everything around me is on hold, when will i see my son next, when i can have new neighbors over for dinner, when will i get my hair cut again? some things (like trips to the hair salon) seem selfish but they were all of our little pleasures, our small luxuries during busy work months and long winter weekends. treats.

i started a large embroidery project a month ago that has sat since i moved into my new house. i'm in the middle of a large writing project that has gone untouched. i have not hung one thing on the walls of my new house. my basement is still in boxes. i think we are all in disbelief in some way that we have been forced to pause. it took me some time to understand that i HAD to. and so i literally did. i strangely put everything on pause to adjust. i've been taking long beach walks, turning off the t.v. and being quiet, listening to jazz music on repeat.

on my walks i see other people, alot of other people, though from a distance. everyone is trying to get outside, breathe in cool clean air. i see families, many more families than i ever have, walking together, staying close to each other, talking, protecting each other. when i catch certain people's eyes, we are all saying the same thing in one smile, hi, how are you? take care.

i'm getting ready to open some boxes now, to pick up my writing, to get my head back in some sort of regular routine, adjusting to this strange new existence that we are all in. how are you? if anyone would like to chat, let me know! find me on instagram and dm me to say hi. i hope you are well and finding activities that make you feel content and happy.

i'm drawn these days to long, lean lines in architectural design, boxy big windows, tons of light and in the end, ways in which design, and the materials utilized blend in or even compliment a natural environment...

woven by vincent sheppard

belgian-based vincent sheppard is offering up a new twist on woven furniture that i really like. not your typical rattan which in many ways can look cheap or short term, vincent sheppard's pieces are modern, sleek, "imaginative designs that combine tradition and modernity"...

there is a really neat textural element that woven furniture or light shades like these add to any space, residential or commercial. i have always felt that not only adding in texture to your spaces, but mixing textures, mingling a variety of coarser or finer textures to spaces/places keeps it interesting, it allows your eye to flow in and around a space and feel different things. i love that!

kettal: textural seating

barcelona-based kettal is offering up a huge variety of texturally interesting seating options, oh and in tons of color & fabric options too. so...

though kettal is based in spain, they are present worldwide (ahem, miami) and works with many whose who fo designers such patricia urquiola (one of my favorites!). established in 1964, kettal has become a highly innovative brand focusing on quality craftsmanship and environmentally sound practices and material sourcing. i love that.

i also just really love this brand and their collection. there's way more to see here. if you are a designer, planning the interior of any residential or commercial space, kettal is certainly a stop when considering interior and exterior furniture options. i wanted to do maybe one of my longest seating posts ever but stopped myself. you're welcome. ;) enjoy!
