friday & getting away...

happy friday friends! i have to admit, living and working in a heavy tourist area (i live on cape cod), i see families, couples, old, young (even dogs!) taking vacation after vacation, heading to boats, planes, renting bikes, cars, running to the beach, and all and all looking pretty darn relaxed.

so, it's hard to go about your work and business without having that little bit of envy, that slight desire to get away. ok, it's more than slight.

i think i'm going to plan a trip for either this fall or winter. to get away. i'm not sure where yet. my son has always wanted to go to iceland. so.....you never know where you'll end up...wherever you end up this weekend, enjoy!

enjoy! it's friday...

it's been a long week of work, of producing and of creating. now it's time to ease into the weekend, take a few hours off for yourself, treat yourself so beautifully and enjoy...

get creative, daring, inspired by something, anything and let it take over you this weekend...

settle in one of the nights, create a mood, light some candles and breathe...

and enjoy the colors of the fall weekend...

what are your plans this long weekend? we are starting (starting out slowly) christmas shopping, taking our time, getting a little creative with gifts for family. we will definitely be playing in the leaves, there are certainly tons to keep us busy in our yard this weekend. in between that, red wine, great food and sleeping in!
i hope you take time this weekend to really enjoy!

happy monday & graduation snippets.

veritas. perfect.

here i am beginning our walk toward harvard yard, wheat in hand.

we stayed at the fairmont copley plaza hotel. a grand dame of a place, dating back to 1912. i kept looking up, it's where all of the beautiful was.

the morning after graduation & dinner, we all headed toward the airport to send my dad off and to grub down on breakfast in beacon hill at the fill-a-buster restaurant. actually the french toast there was killer!

me, martin and jay. companions at harvard, survivors of harvard french courses;)

i saw this on the back of one of the bicycle cabs, it made me smile. (poking fun at the duck tours;)

i loved walking toward harvard yard, with lines like this of graduates, from every harvard college, all walking, from all directions, descending on the yard. really surreal. gave me goose bumps!

me & my love. diploma in hand. yeah!

great faces, on great places, in boston.

cafe vittoria in the north end for after dinner espresso and tiramisu, completely delish!

me with my very old harvard book. my great, great, great grandfather graduated from harvard college in 1869. i carried his harvard class book with me the whole day for good luck!

seems like a strange picture to end my graduation post with but here's the story. well, sort of. as we were on our way to the fill-a-buster restaurant in beacon hill, we passed a fox news station that is there. well...i kid you not, my father practically lept from the car, ran, kneeled down and payed some sort of religious homage to the place. he's, let us say...addicted to fox news and this for him was mecca, the holy grail, you name it. his ship had landed and well, you get the picture. long story. ;)

so there you have it, our graduation weekend in short, but in fun to the fullest. it really was a magical few days all culminating from beaucoup work, driving, sleepless nights and papers and exams. i wouldn't have changed a thing!
enjoy this memorial day friends. we are off to plunk in chairs at a favorite beach, with books, beers and something delish to snack on! wherever you are, whatever you do today, enjoy!!!

miami vice.

happy friday friends! i don't want to bore you, but i wanted to share a few (of the tons, seriously tons) of the photos i took partaking in my miami vice. it truly was a vice for us on our recent get~away. i slept, i ate, i overall rested which was the goal of getting away for us this time. i got my balance back. my head cleared and my smile snuck back onto my face ;)

we stayed at turnberry isle country club/resort in miami, in the town of adventura. i highly recommend going if you are in the market for a get~away and if you consider miami. miami is fast becoming one of my favorite destinations. it does everything to tempt me. and i let it!

here is a view of one of the resort buildings. we ate breakfast behind that waterfall. the food was so fabulous that i literally sprinted out of bed to get to the breakfast table. the view. the sun. the food. breakfast was my favorite time of the day.

i was so pleased with our room. high ceilings, a warm, neutral color palette, super comfy beds and the bathroom...that was one of the best parts!

i'm a tub person so this was a dream come true!

we swam. ah yeah. the pools (there is a larger pool area such as this one and a smaller pool area nearby, both are beautiful!) were beyond amazing!

we ate like kings. i seriously need to get running to work all of the food off! ;)

we wished we were driving this. the cars parked out front of this resort were a show of their own, from Lamborghini's to Bentley's, to everything in between, to old school eye~candy such as this jaw dropper.

this pretty restaurant was straight to the right upon entering the resort. the name is bourbon, it's a steakhouse/fabulous seafood/prettiest burgers in town restaurant. oh and let's talk about the design. the feel. the mood...
first of all, the color palette of this bourbon steakhouse grabbed me. tons of clear glass, burnt oranges, wood tones, wine bottles galore! just very chic, very glam, very amazing atmosphere they created here.

my love, checking out the menu for later on. how amazing is that hostess desk that greets you as you walk in? all different length pieces of wood, all poking out in a clean, intriguing display. i kept sitting there staring at it. one of my favorite pieces in a restaurant yet.

i was drawn to the way they built the walls from wine bottles. this theme continued throughout the restaurant, as well as this warm, super sexy color palette and oh, all of that glass! love!
this view is what you see first walking into the resort. a wonderfully comfortable lobby and sitting area, perfect for cooling off, reading or sipping a glass of wine.

and one of my favorite things we did in miami...we made lots of friends...

me playing caddy. not really, i seriously just rode along in the golf cart and soaked up the sun ;)

we let out frustrations. what a way to do it huh?
view from the golf course looking at our building. our room was on the first floor, a garden/golf course view. perfect!

not even funny. this was what we returned to! ugh.

one of the other interesting aspects of turnberry isle was their walking/jogging path which completely surrounded the resort and both golf courses (they have 2). it was a great way to start the day, before eating those fabulous breakfasts! ;) i think it was about 3 miles and we enjoyed that part of the morning. also the "friends" i showed you above, they were here and there on the walking path too! so adjusted to people that you almost had to walk around them. i loved that!

i hope you have a great weekend! it's raining here, a perfect excuse to go to a movie with my son. so i will. let me know what you are doing! i'd love to hear...enjoy!

i'm off...

(via dream)

i'm signing off early this week. as many of you know, my mom passed away about 3 weeks ago now (you can read the post here) and i'm in much need of a get away, to clear the cobwebs, to rejuvenate, to get my balance back and to be honest, my smile. so one of the loves of my life prepared a few days in a warm, sunny place for me to put my feet up, soak up some vitamin d and to catch up on my reading for classes, eat well and sleep. i'll take gobs of pictures (with my very new digital canon camera, so psyched!) and share when i return. i'm only gone until monday, so i'll see you right back here then! for now, happy early friday, from me to you and enjoy your weekend ;) i will too!!
