hello friday!
i hope that you have a great friday, and an even better weekend!
(via)
what are you up to? anything fun? i won tickets on a radio station to this event. it sounds spectacular and perfect in remembering my dad this weekend as he worked with flowers all of his life. it would make for a beautiful father's day even though he can't be with me.
i'll be sure to take some photos and share them next week. hmmm, sipping champagne, listening to jazz music and viewing all of those amazing gardens and flower arrangements? sounds perfect. i hope that you have the best weekend ever! enjoy!

guy stuff.
today, i'm loving the subtle masculinity resonating from the guy stuff offered up by the very cool shop orn hansen...
this is the story of guy meets girl, makes shop. orn hansen is located in long beach california and it's truly a general goods store, but with nods to vintage everything. i love that!
and i love everything in it. but the men's line had my attention today. i don't often post about men's product (or at least in a fashion sense) but there was something about that vintage blue and white paisley bandana. it's every guy really. it's classic guy. this whole store gets guys. just saying....enjoy!

monday & lone flag.
timeless and trendless, i am loving this company, lone flag. have a look...
with its rustic, southern, cowboy vibe, this line by lone flag brings me right straight back to my time spent in tennessee with my dad. from the smoke soap (that smells like nighttime campfires by the way!) to the crackled leather coasters, to the "manready mercantile whiskey glasses" which are described on lone flag's site as "a great glass for a great man" (see what i mean), to the spool industrial light, all offer touches of raw yet warm masculinity & scents of the earth.
this line has me itching to book a road trip, heading south, to where the campfires blaze and the cowboys roam. enjoy!

april 26th.
today's not only april 26th, it's my dad's birthday. he passed away almost 2 years ago now. but even before christmas, his birthday was his favorite day...
he was born and raised in tennessee. and he died there too. one of the things i loved about going to tennessee was waking up early and seeing what the mountains looked like before the day sort of changed all that. i live near the ocean, and similarly you can get up early and look out at the edge, same thing, before the day changes things.
but for me, there is something so special about the mountains. and maybe it's because i don't have the privilege of living near them. they're mysterious, inviting and take you away to another world once you drive up into them, with wine, and sandwiches and the air changes. so that is what i'm remembering today, what i'm feeling. i took this image on one of my last trips, one of my last mornings in my dad's back yard. looking at the mountains, and missing him. enjoy...
