artist feature: dejan dukic

this monday morning, i'm drawn to the sculptural mixed media paintings of austria-born dejan dukic...

i think it's the incorporation of the repeating, straight lines, there is a sort of fundamental simplicity interrupted in extravagant ways by paint, and color and texture and application. these are weighty feeling in their realness, but contain a lightness about them that is captivating and interesting. i've often said that you know when you are truly drawn to a piece, whether it be a sculpture, a painting, photography etc when you know, for sure, that you could hang it on your wall, forever. you like it that much.
