from tropical surroundings.

today i'm imagining myself taking a long walk, on the beaches of puerto rico, where this kei jewelry line is made...
i spotted one of owner keyla torres' kei jewelry pieces on pinterest and i was immediately hooked, heading straight the site to vicariously soak up the puerto rican sun and warmth (or at least in my surrounded by snow imagination) and set aside a few pieces i'd like to add to my summer jewelry line.

kei's jewelry line is a mixture of chunky agate stones and golden arrowheads, to delicate cascading gold bars. even better, layer them, (see here), mix them together, the chunky and the delicate for a super sexy summer look. just saying...enjoy!

monday & sixinch.

the belgian design company sixinch is fun, featuring abstract shaped seating all while using a heck of alot of foam...
first of all...sixinch, the cool name comes from this: "the place where creativity lies inside all of us is the space between our ears-a mere 150 mm wide-or six inches." don't you love that concept behind the name? me too.

and yes, they utilize the medium of "high concept foam coated furniture" in imaginative ways. don't you think? me too. sixinch, the designers, (you can see them all here) state that they have developed a "brand that allows you to tap into your dreams, your vision, your ideas-your six inches."

and again, when i feature product such as this line from sixinch, it's perhaps not a line that you would necessarily want to fill your residential or commercial space with (though admittedly, that would be fun to see!), but one unusual, unexpected piece, placed in the perfect space or place? now you're on to something...enjoy!

have a fun weekend!

whoop whoop, it's friday! aaaaaaand...it's almost valentine's day, are you doing anything fun or romantic?
(via)
i've had a serious case of hibernation (like brown bear in a cave style hibernation because of accumulating snow mounds that WILL NOT STOP!) so i'm not sure if i'll be stepping out or not. but i'm still glad that the weekend is upon us. if you are in love, i hope that you are celebrating that fact in your own way, large or small. if you're not in a romantic relationship, maybe just tell someone you love them, it might make their day. ;)

enjoy your weekend, valentine's day or not. and if you are up for some fun, check out these interesting finds from around the web. xo!

16 amazing infinity pools.

pretty zinc spheres.

for inside the house, or outside the house, i love these zinc hanging spheres today, offered up by terrain...
and wouldn't they actually be a very pretty (and cool!) valentine's gift? an unusual way of giving flowers? why yes it would...enjoy!

a brisbane house tour.

design sponge recently featured this brisbane apartment. did you see it?
it's the home of photographer and documentary filmmaker nicolette johnson and her fiance tom dawson. nicolette states that designing their spaces was challenging with regard to the size of some of the rooms, and being on a tight budget. but they pulled it off, well, and kept all of that fabulous light!! read more about the apartment and interview design sponge conducted with the pair, here. and enjoy it!

feel good furniture.

the italian company flexform has created a line of what they call "feel good" furniture. and who doesn't want furniture to feel good, right?
and don't they just look inviting, like they do indeed feel good? they're filled with down (even the stools!) and to me, have a soft, approachable design. these were a few of my favorites, just saying...enjoy!

pink pins.

how do you feel about pink? i thought i'd ask since valentine's day is lickity split around the corner...
(1,2,3,4,5,6)
it's funny because i've never pegged myself for a pink person, but after perusing some of my very own pinterest boards, i've pinned more things pink than i thought. huh. enjoy!

monday & provocative artwork.

every now and then i see a provocative painting or photograph placed in places & spaces, sometimes grouped, sometimes alone, and sometimes that's all that you need to make a statement...bam!
(1,2,3,4,5)
wow pieces, (which i have expressed in the past) are completely necessary in every space, residential or commercial, nut they don't necessarily have to come by way of unusual or original lighting or a furniture piece, they can come through artists, and they can come at you, right at you, but sometimes that's the point. right?

the second image here is one of my favorite spaces with a wow piece of artwork that i've seen in some time. the home is ryan brown's and was featured on domaine, here. the artist is paul rusconi and the work is titled "julia on lavender" and is completed by placing tiny dots of nail polish on plexiglass. now that's wow. enjoy your monday friends!

sunday & matisyahu.

drinking italian coffee, it's snowing outside, i'm looking at bikinis for next summer and chilling out to these guys...

oh, and i heard this interesting story on bob marley yesterday while driving around, in case you are in the mood, & interested ;)

how is your sunday going? enjoy!

happy friday friends!

how was your week? i've spent mine dodging snow banks, navigating icy walkways, and basically wishing summer to come sooner...
(via)
i grew up here, so these winters are not new to me. i usually can find the good in everything, including mounds of snow (sledding, skating, etc.). but this last month has been too cold, way, way too beyond cold to do most of anything considered winter fun. so there's my complaining for the week! ha!

so...this weekend i might purchase a summer dress or two, and look forward to summer, my admitted favorite time of the year. i'll imagine windows open, the summer night air, tan skin, and less layers. why not? it's the little things sometimes that keep us going!

i hope that you are up to something super fun this weekend! enjoy...

artisinal steel.

the german design company muller is offering up what they call artisinal steel shelves (oh and lots of steel other pieces too, like their modular sideboards which i LOVE)...and the sort of stunning simplicity and sometimes 2-toned paint scheme drew me in...
and so i'm sure that you are thinking, it's just shelving, what's the big deal? right? but the one big deal or at least very cool thing is that muller gets something right, besides their design sense and finished product...they state that "a piece of furniture can come in endless forms. only very few of them have already been discovered." don't you love that?

a reminder that even a shelf can be re-imagined, transformed, or seen in a new way. enjoy!

ong & ong house.

let me tell ya, i love interiors and interior design, but i also pay close attention to designers of the shell, the architecture that houses it all...
architects ong & ong are designing some spaces that, well, if you want zen, you got it! from the sensitivity of their landscape design, to the ways in which the exterior regulates the interior, ong & ong designs truly harmonious spaces.

ong & ong states that they strive to "be the designers of our age." and surely they are doing that. but there is also something aged and special about their approach, about how they see space or the lack of it. i'm not sure how else i can describe ong & ong's view or vantage point, other than i love it. alot. enjoy!
