muller van severen.

this deliriously beautiful composed marble bench is the furniture project of fien muller & hannes van severen of muller van severen...
imagine you've purchased (or own) an amazing antique wooden farm table/dining table and then out of the blue you place this marble bench, on one side as a new seating option. you've entered in sculptural texture to the environment, you've dared to be just a little bit different. and it feels good. ;) enjoy!

grande art.

manhattan-based carol egan "has built up a sterling reputation as one of the world's leading interior designers. and her use of large art, steals my design-loving heart every time...
a dublin native, carol egan "has worked on countless prestigious corporate projects and luxury residences across the u.s., europe and asia." carol has also recently launched a line of minimalist contemporary furniture as well. lucky for us.

but in spacing her interiors, in placing particular objects but especially to me here, statement artwork, carol understands the presence that artwork interjects. grande art, such as in these spaces featured here, they are pow, they are wow, they are sexy, and certainly steal the scene. statement art and photography can offer a profound impact to any residential or commercial space. and much like a wow or unexpected piece of furniture or lighting, it should say something, then it should move you, it should affect you in some way. i love that. enjoy!

karman lighting.

today i'm love, love, loving the texture in these "blackout" lights offered up by the (indoor & outdoor) italian lighting company, karman...
karman works with a host of provocative and innovative designers helping karman to accentuate its strong brand identity and unconventional line of truly interesting and amazing lighting.

take a look at some creative videos here too, of karman's designers, of how much fun they have in displaying and promoting their brand as well as karman's craftsman actually producing particular lamps, from beginning to end.

what i LOVE about companies such as karman is that as you or i, seek out lighting that not just anyone has, that not just anyone wants, that not just anyone has thought of when placing that unexpected piece in a residential or commercial environment, they have that. they dream it, they design it and then just like that, they offer it up, to not just anyone, and everyone. enjoy!

interior inspiration.

los angeles based designer sophie buhai's interiors are inspiring to me today...
the clean, bright light, the white, the overall natural color palette, with pops of color in perfectly placed artwork or in hints of crisp greens...soothing & stunning all at the same time. enjoy!

superfront.

if you are looking for a creative start to the new year, this is another cool choice for changing up furniture that might otherwise be plain or even slightly boring in its original form...
and hey, if you can find a sideboard or bed frame at ikea that is affordable but you wish that it had just a little more pizazz (first of all, grab it!) but then...change it up a little with what superfront has to offer. superfront is a swedish company that is sort of picking up where ikea leaves off, offering you attractive knobs, pulls, legs and color options to make a simple piece more original, more your own.

i love changing out hardware on new or vintage pieces (cabinets too!). sometimes just the smallest changes can really transform a piece that you were otherwise ready to part with. pretty pegs is another one of my favorite go-to sites for the same thing except it is all about the legs. enjoy!

three 2016 designers to watch.

i've recently begun seriously watching 3 new-to-me designers/companies and will continue to see what amazing lines they come up with for 2016. i thought i'd share them with you too...

the first is polder, a french line created by 2 sisters of dutch origin (cool right?). they create high end & exquisite lines for both women and young girls (their younger girls line is called april showers)...
the second line i'm avidly following is anaise, a san francisco based design company featuring a plethora of designers and features "timeless, well-crafted pieces," a "source of unassuming elegance, subtle femininity and modern boheme."
the third line catching my minimalistic loving eye is all comes from nothing. it is a women's wear line developed by artist and designer eva yiwei xu. it's a line inspired by the chinese philosophy of simplicity and minimalism. & there are some days where that is exactly what you are looking for.
hope that you like them too. keep an eye on each of these to see what they all offer us for 2016. enjoy!

2016 & the adventure of a lifetime.

been sick for about 3 weeks (and i am NEVER sick). but feeling better. literally dancing around the house to the new coldplay song.

and for 2016, some of the key words in this song i'm loving "turn your magic on," "we are legends every day," "we are diamonds taking shape," "everything you want's a dream away." keep those thoughts in mind for the new year everyone! enjoy...
