the perfect rug & a before project shot.

not only do i want to welcome a new sponsor to avant garde design, but a fab company with a brandy new concept and idea, the perfect rug! get this...you get to create your own rug on line, and since you do, it will be the perfect rug right? right!

the perfect rug company offers up hundreds of texture choices, pattern choices and color palette choices. plus...choices of materials such as wools, grasses and sisal's to high traffic choices as well as outdoor choices. so with the perfect rug, how can you go wrong?

i welcome the perfect rug as a sponsor and as a company offering do~it~yourself choices when it comes to designing or transforming your residential or commercial spaces. i love that!

now...for my promised before pictures of the vintage bureau i'm transforming while on break from classes. not sure if i'll finish by the end of january, but i've at least begun (instead of just talking about it! which is a start). what i did was literally pull it apart, removing worn parts, primarily in the wood where parts were warped due to moisture in the air etc. i removed the entire back and plan to replace it with a metal, perhaps sheet metal or copper or vintage tin ceiling tiles? something like that?

(click on image and you should see it larger)
the bureau has beautiful details which i uncovered after scraping off thick, thick layers of paint which someone had covered the bureau in, literally you could not see the carvings, the lines under all of that paint. so...stay tuned for updates and more thoughts on just where i'm going with it! enjoy your monday!!

a love story.

so on my last trip to the book store to peruse the pages of those, shall we say, exceptional interior design magazines, (which is one of my favorite things to do in a day with time off), i held in my hands interior design magazine and this apartment/designer love story stopped me...

photographed by eric laignel for interior design magazine and designed by ghishlaine vinas (who, if you don't know her work, will completely amaze you, no, she'll blow you away entirely!) i found to be the epitome of daring, of explosive artistic, clean, cheery, vibrant and seriously intriguing. this tri~becca space begs you to take chances, to experiment and to approach a space with not only a true artistic sense, but attack it, to drive the concept home. to this apartment. yeah. and wow.

with this incredible space to ogle, enjoy an artistic weekend then, get a little daring with color, whether in your wardrobe or for your interior spaces. we are in the middle of a milky~sky day here (snow is on the horizon they say) in new england so this amazing apartment has inspired me to think in color. how fun. enjoy!! happy, happy friday friends ;)

bodo sperlein.

i discovered bodo sperlein recently and boy am i glad i did. i just had to share!

Lladro jewelry, from bodo sperlein is super playful & oh~so~beautiful! doves playfully perching on various branches. bodo sperlein creates necklaces, rings and more. you have to view these here, they will give you a start.

bodo sperlein crafts these "eclipse" mirrors with dupont corian and swarovski crystals, which makes for a completely magical look. clean, elegant, very hollywood glam. i love these!

bodo sperlein's sensual, streamlined, sculptural furniture is more than design eye~candy, it's absolute artwork. even one piece placed in any space in your residential or commercial space would transform the mood, the look, the space really.

adding color, even better!

this "cascade" chandelier is made entirely from chrome plated tubes, inspired by cascading water fountains, reflecting the light as water does. simply amazing.

get ready to pick your jaw up off of the floor...these are lights. ah yeah. bodo sperlein make sure that staffordshire artists, dedicated to this craft of porcelain stay working, enlisting their services to create these illuminated flower lights. can you imagine?

everything that bodo sperlein offers is so very pleasing, so exquisite and anything you view on line here will help you to realize that again, there are so many options when considering design, when considering transforming your spaces. enjoy!

domeau & pérès. eagerness for innovation.

whilst flipping through one of the many interior design magazines which i surrounded myself with at the bookstore the other day, the clean~lined simplicity yet obvious design genius of domeau & pérès was a welcome change from the typical, the ordinary.

these pipe~like vases are not only fun, they are really fun. ;)

i adore what domeau & pérès's products offer to an environment, commercial or residential. subtle, sexy lines, refined but not restrained design. the wonderful pieces offered up by domeau & pérès are easy to place, they add a bit of different, they are dressed up and dressed down all at once. perfectly lovely.

it's mid~week, what are your plans? what are you doing? well, since i have a couple of weeks off from classes, i'm taking on a project that has been staring at me every time i head to my basement, a vintage bureau in need of a transformation, big~time! this week i'll post before pictures and i hope to finish the project before the end of the month! are you working on anything creative, are you transforming anything this month? do tell! enjoy...

new products for a new year.

i've been posting lately about a few new amazing pouf designs out there right now, and these evocative pebble poufs by ronel jordaan and offered through amaridian are definitely one of the more amazing designs in poufs. utilizing grey silks and felts, my heart is skipping a beat for these. imagine in any space, contemporary or not, these poufs, stacked, displayed, spread out, or just there, as if sculptural. just so fabulous that's all!

these very environmentally sound and very cute "dash" personal task LED lights by steelcase are a fab new product in my book. loving the colors, the simple design, the 97% recyclable part too. i want bunches of these! and in every color possible ;)

the always amazing pillow and fabric collections by john robshaw. i want, need and love these year round.

a new love of mine, mod green pod! a must see when you or someone you know is in the market for fabrics or cheery, oh~so~mod wallcoverings. everything is beautiful!

how exquisite is this swivel armchair with its chrome base and hand~stitched leather offered up by de sede of switzerland? completely elegant.

amazing hand~made ceramic lighting offered from lesley anton. simple beautiful.

so exciting is this new year because guess what? this new year offers designers new days to create and design bloggers like you and me to brag about them. so another words it's going to be a very exciting year my friends. very exciting indeed! enjoy these new picks to kick of the new year and enjoy your day!!

claire coles design.

happy first monday of the year everyone! i thought i'd post something super pretty for this post, couture embroidered wallpapers by claire coles.

"claire’s couture wallpapers transform walls into individual works of art. each design plays with texture and scale to create a rich opulent feel to any setting.
fragments of hand-sourced vintage wallpapers are layered and intricately embroidered with silks and leather to create a range of patterns and scenes."

can you imagine even just a bit of a wall, adorned with work by claire coles? claire coles's designs have me hurrying up spring, craving bumble bees and fresh new blooms. i love the textural element her work offers to a space, even in a small amount, it's almost all the more curious, all the more fabulous. a special artist for a special first monday of the year post! enjoy...
