it's been a grey and rainy week on cape cod. i'm in the need of a color boost, so i went and picked up some beautiful rose plants to add to my mother's day chocolate baskets at the shop. i'm not a "basket" person, in fact, wicker and i are not really friends. so at the shop we use beautiful metallic chocolate pottery planters as our "baskets". so the beautiful rose plant will be inside a beautiful planter surrounded by wonderful chocolate. not bad.

today i found inspiration from living etc. and their bold florals ideas. loved them. what a punch they pack and in fact some of the more bold impacts i rather like better. what are your thoughts? enjoy this color punch, maybe you needed it today? i know i did. :)

so i've been having one of the those foggy, indecisive months. yet for reasons that i think you all understand blogging has been and will be that creative day to day outlet. not only that but i stay constantly amazed at all of the talented and beautiful blogs i keep coming across, it's endless really.

my favorite blogs as well as the many new ones i keep discovering, not only inspire me, they motivate me and they move me. i'm hoping that all of you have felt the same way. that just when you feel that your creative juices are empty, and you're feeling a big sluggish, there it is...a fun, fabulous, original post surprises you and opens your mind. either someone has been somewhere fabulous, or it's an amazing find, story or just a simply beautifully presented blog in itself. so much inspiration.

so i've raved before about how blogging makes me feel, how it contributes in a large way to being honest to my own sense of style, how it temps me, through other bloggers and blogs to go outside myself...but i just wanted to say it again.

constance guisset.

my favorite of constance's designs, the vertigo light...read more about my reaction below the photos. the video is fabulous, you really should watch. you'll want one! "fiat lux is a lamp whose switch levitates when the light is on." "when the light is off, the switch is an autonomous sphere that can be stocked onto the lamp thanks to a magnet system." "the user becomes an illusionist by turning the lamp on, just by approaching the switch." "the lamp is lighting and the switch levitates till it is taken off by the user in order to turn off the light." i could curl up in this "dancing chair" all day long, couldn't you? tri3 contains your household trash while allowing you to store and separate your recyclables. i know it's just a trash can but i love this! "duplex is an acquarium/cage favouring an improbable encounter between a bird and a fish. the acquarium is thermoformed so as to create a space where the bird can fly at the same visual level as the fish." while i'm not a big fan of caging up birds, it did present an intriguing design and thought process anyway. very inventive. "funambule is a black cutlery collection whose elements can be assembled together to form a stable mobile, a table stabile." i happened upon french designer constance guisset and was immediately taken...she had me at vertigo. i'll explain... constance designs pieces, lighting and even trashcans in a magical, ethereal way. the february 2009 issue of arbitare magazine titled her as "constance in wonderland" further complimenting her by adding, 'french designer constance guisset brings back the magic into design." with that said... constance has created a light, called vertigo, which i dropped my jaw over. it hovers over you like a big floppy hat you'd wear to the kentucky derby, shining a warm glow over you, into your space, wrapping you up in it. no seriously, almost totally wrapping you up in it. creating a space of intimacy, the vertigo light is extremely light making it mobile to the rhythm of the air, it turns softly, "projecting an almost transparent graphic space between the floor and the ceiling." i've attached a video that truly captures the aura this light gives to you, surrounds you with. very cool! enjoy the creations of constance guisset, a new designer to you all? or am i trudging along having been one of the last to know? :)

i notice windows from time to time and understanding the importance of them architecturally, athestically and of course the importance of them in many useful ways. how many windows do you have or would you add if you were building a commercial or residential space. tons, or barely any at all? would you want others to be able to see inside? would you want to see outside? here and there or from anywhere in your home? big or small, average size and shape or completely off the wall and out of the box?

i'm always intrigued by what people do to and with their windows as well. are they bare, are the decorated, with flowers, trinkets, signs, collectables. i myself looked around my house last night. i have alot of found, natural objects in my windows, like rocks that have spoken to me and that i've had to take home, driftwood hunks from washed up walks on the beach, seaglass and a small scupture here and there, some made by my son when he was little. those are some of my favorite display items. enjoy your monday and if you're looking out the window, what do you see?

i happened upon anne's site and company through research for new wall treatments/panels. i love the effect unique and inventive wall panels offer to any space, residential or commercial. never mind the fact that one can improve sound quality or block unwanted sound in that space.

based out of london, anne's textiles are cut, sewn and finished by hand. luxurious natural fabrics such as wool are used in her three dimensional designs. "resembling artworks more than conventional fabrics", anne's "sculptural approach has pioneered a new genre of interior textiles based on three dimensional structure rather than smooth surface ornamentation."

how wonderful would one of these installations be in your commercial space? and one or two of those pillows or throws draped and placed around your living space. or bedroom? endless possibilities. i'm first drawn to her texture then color palette, very soft and flowy. happy friday everyone in blogland. enjoy!
