here are those jewel elements and metallics showing up in everthing from pool design details to beautiful bathroom tile. tile samples from tile showcase.

lights by charles loomis. a domino magazine pick as new fav for 2009 too!

there's varied trends developing for this new 2009 according to the boston design center. in color we'll be surrounded by everything from blue hues, moody greys, berry brights, naughty neutrals to porcelain pales. for pattern it's blacks and whites, bountiful blossoms, timber and texture, dazzling damask and 70's boho. tons of layering of materials, patterns and colors. in the world of eco-friendly we're seeing trends towards windmill patterns in fabrics, designers and architects are using cork, bamboo, coconut and reclaimed materials. inspiration is international! global influences are abundant with english and french furniture and fabric styles to painted and weathered woods. asian influences of lacquered finishes, clean, simple lines. lots of functional fashion. storage is becoming vogue, how we store, how our storage compartments look and what they can add to a space. materials and surfaces are showing carves and curves. lyrical designs on tile and stone, motifs with movement and flow. definite jewelry inspirations as mentioned on my friend and fellow blogger belle maison's blog. rich jewel toned colors and shimmering faceted embellishments. lastly white on white! today's consumers are seeking clean, crisp whites, warm whites and stark whites...and lots of it. entire rooms swathed in white. do any of these predictions appeal to you? Any that you could live without? happy monday mornin'!

twenty2.

i've posted about twenty2 before but i'm loving their fresh, metallic, wintery-springy wall treatments and grasscloth. whether for residential or commercial, adding that element of texture, design and warmth can transform the look and feel of the environment you are asking yourself and others to spend time. sometimes adding wallpaper or wall treatments can leave a wall finished, polished and needing nothing else, allowing the color and design to speak for itself. let me know which was your favorite after viewing and could you think of a space in your own home or commercial space where coating one or more of your walls would accentuate and compliment that environment? would it drive you crazy? is it soothing, exciting and imaginative all at the same time? happy weekend and stay warm those of you living near the east coast, looks like we're in for a blow! :)

westergaard designs.

fun and funky little company located in england that i stumbled upon through 100% design. westergaard designs features a fresh, simple take on vases, dinnerware, furniture and mirrors with stag cutout designs. i loved the klasse wingback chair providing a sleek, comfortable and modern take on the wingback your grandmother sat in, to say the least. just fun eye candy for a thursday, although it's finally sunny here on cape cod. it's been a true new england winter thus far! calgon take me away! :)

cb2.

simply modern. simply affordable. cb2, a new destination from crate and barrel! i had this little catalog waiting for me, how fun! especially when you don't expect it. "modern furnishings for apartment, loft, home. ideas for the 24 hours or more in your day. our best advice is get click-happy and go!" as i flipped through cb2's catalog i found their product line, clean, eclectic, edgy and fun. refreshing also came to mind. some of my favorites from the site were their many hanging vases, great lighting, and candle holders. i particularly loved the "whirly hanging candleholders" which you can clump together at different heights, hang them over a dining table for guests or over a coffee table in the living room, or how about on a screened in porch during the warmer months while you sip on wine! love love love that idea! now if winter will just hurry up :) enjoy cb2, different from it's sister store crate and barrel but a barrel of fun! (their 2009 catalog is due on line soon, i may post more loves from this catalog in the near future!)

the propery.

hard to find items. gently used items. timeless items. quality items. any of these can be found at the propery. although located in australia, they have a site full of finds when you are searching for that one of a kind item. maybe it's a cake stand, or a stuffed chair in disrepair that you'd like to spruce up, or even slabs of countertop, the propery has got it. you will find towering cake stands, tarnished trophies, antiqued cutlery, birdcages, limoges china and french ribbon! the propery gives prices but you need to contact them if you see something you have to get your hands on because they do not appear to have a shopping cart. so you'll have to order by mail. the propery should also be able to help you find that item you absolutely need as well. i love stores like the propery. the owner and designer says that she finds things and has faith that they will find a home. maybe your home? enjoy.

elegant rococo style mirror. by olystudio

as we are all sort of reflecting back on 2008 and looking forward to 2009, i thought it might be appropriate to look into these fabulous mirrors and also notice that all mirrors do not need to be hung on the wall, they can lean, lean out, hang and most importantly create space, add an element of texture with the glass and the frame if any. like pillows, i'm drawn to mirrors, not to stare into necessarily but drawn to mirrors for the construction of them. from large to small, framed or unframed somehow mirrors...although made of glass... can add a warm feeling to a room. i'm currently searching for a giant mirror for my shop as I can create more space visually by adding it to the back wall. i'd also love the lighting that i had designed and constructed to reflect and bounce right back into the room off of that large mirror. i have a medium size sort of boring one that i picked up at homegoods really quickly when we were opening to fill a void, but it's pretty generic. i need a mirror with flare, with curiosities, with a vibe. yes i said vibe, wouldn't you agree mirrors have an energy of sorts? happy friday and here's to a brand new weekend in a brand new year :)
