sunday & wastin' time

i'm lately really loving the solo work by peter wolf (remember j geils band?). he began his artistic career as a painter (admitted to the boston musuem school of fine arts) then jumped on stage one day at a loft party to sing, and says he was "transfixed", that it was a "born-again type of experience." those moments in life are what we all wait for right?

oh, and he's currently touring, if you are liking this as much as i am. enjoy!

let's talk tampons. no, really.

when molly hayward approached me about cora, her product, (and yes they are indeed tampons), i thought...hmmm, seems strange right? why on earth would i feature tampons on a design blog? but there's (obviously) more to the story, (though tampons ARE a definite design in a sense). so yes, molly's product line, cora, is about tampons, but it's also about helping to bring about "a better future for all women in every part of the world." but i'm getting to that, the AMAZING cause behind cora soon...
cora tampons are 100% certified organic (read more about why that is SO important here). women purchase and use over 10,000 tampons in their lifetime. wow. so there's that. and because of that giant number we should want the best for our bodies right? and yes, as you can see from the images above, cora's branding is fabulous, they come to your door looking like this, beautifully packaged in clean, modern ways to carry (aka, very creatively hide) and use your tampons. so that's pretty cool.

BUT, why i took on this post is because of THE CAUSE. molly has traveled extensively, and through her research concludes that approximately 100 million girls/women lack access to adequate menstrual products around the globe. um, 100 million woman. wow. products that you and i reach for in a split second, without thought. we can do better than that right? well molly is.

read more about molly's cause, through her cora product line here, it's about the every day struggle of women from different cultures, religions & countries and about why this is so important. for every month's supply of cora tampons that you purchase, AND LISTEN UP, this is the amazing part, cora donates one month's supply to women in need. women in countries where just talking about a period is embarrassing or unheard of. so they don't. and then in turn, they are not taking care of themselves. so tell your friends, your co-workers, your family! guys, tell your wives, your sisters, your mothers! women and men reading this blog, help cora support all the women they can.

BONUS!: for the next 30 days, cora is offering avant garde design readers $5.00 of your first purchase. simply enter the code CORA5ROBIN at checkout!
enjoy!

in full disclosure, i received product for this post but all opinions are my own.

mirrors & burke decor

i'm lately loving some of the new mirrors offered up by burke decor. for different reasons, in different spaces, mirrors are or can be, a statement piece. they are going to take up precious space in your home, you want to not only like looking into it each day, but looking at it each day...
if i could run in to burke decor today and grab a handful of favorite mirrors, these would be my first grabs. super versatile for a variety of tastes and styles. see waaaaaay more of what burke decor offers up here, it was hard to choose! enjoy!

p.s. and speaking of mirrors, how about this mirror? if anyone knows where to get this one let me know!

fun "daywalker" tables

singularly, these "daywalker" tables, appearing dipped in bright color combinations would be fun for a residential space, but grouped, how fun would these be in a cafe, or otherwise very cool commercial space?
they're designed and offered up by finland-based look industries, the creation of ivar gestranius and kevin lahtinen since 2009. they claim that these tables "should easily hold at least 20 mojitos, a chain saw and a small dog." ha! (there is funny sprinkled throughout this site if you keep looking). ivar and kevin strive to design furniture that helps distracted people find privacy in busy places. (& they also have a funny way of beginning their about page, see it here.)

there is also ALOT more to love about look industries, you could go positively nuts with some of their fun furniture designs. i love this line, it has jump started my creative flow today. and i love that! enjoy...

found fashion inspiration

i'm having a similar (uninspired) week. ugh. maybe it's all of this summer heat? but thinking towards fall, towards the end of the heat (though i am NOT rushing things trust me), i could wear any of these outfits, any day of the week. i'm just inspired by these looks today...
(links)
how is your week going? are you trudging through summer heat too? how are you managing it? it's hard to stay focused sometimes as you wilt like a flower. cold rosé might be the way?! ;) enjoy...

monday & filling spaces

portland oregon-based filling spaces, every bit of their product line, encompasses "rich artistic tradition, creativity and craftsmanship." oh, and it's totally all about textiles, pattern & texture, color palettes that remind you of the ocean, the sky, of gardens and getting outdoors in every way...
these were a few of my favorites, though it was hard to pair it down to just these. the color palettes and patterns pull at my "i was raised by my mother who often wore hand-dyed batik indian dresses while playing the acoustic guitar" heartstrings. they really do. and she really did. enjoy!
