so, what are you up to? in my part of the world it's desperately trying to transition into spring. a day here & there of sneaky warm and then a dusting of snow. the trend right now is for it to warm up, so i'll be outside part of the weekend soaking any possible sun up i can find!

i'm also really looking forward to attending this talk monday evening given by andrew bacevich, a professor and author whom i've read extensively for some of my graduate courses. seems like a more than interesting talk. (and this book in particular is extremely well written if you're interested in reading bacevich. )

madeline weinrib & denim carpets.

new york artist and designer madeline weinrib has caught my attention today with her handwoven, denim carpets. yeah...that's right, denim.

with names like "blue note" and "ocean" and patterns like farms from the view of an airplane, madeline's denim carpets are evocative of landscapes, of abstract oceans, of places and spaces you admire, or desire to be. i love that...enjoy!

these fleux lights are fun.

my mind floats between a smoke filled burlesque club bar to my grandmother's bedroom when viewing these fleux lights. and that's part of the fun...

with some of the interior shades patterned and some plain, viewing these fleux lights from below offers a different experience than a straight on vantage point. so you could hang them high, low or somewhere in between. so...even more fun to be had with these lights. enjoy!

olsen fashion.

i'm heading to boston for class. if it was a touch warmer, i'd be walking from the garage to my classroom door in something like this first outfit. the olsen style slays me every time. it's me, if i could just walk around any way that i'd like. it would be in olsen fashion.

i just like this.

for alot of reasons. i think first it's for the white everywhere. as i proceed in life, in my design taste, in general, i'm loving the absolute simplicity, purity and beauty of white.

then...enter in the blue/grey walls. the intense/modernity of the art. the warm addition of the light wood palette. and the small, splashes of pattern and texture with singular wallpapered walls. all make for a complimentary, compatable, interesting space (s). and i just. plain. like it. enjoy!

pom pom factory.

the options & product line offered up by the pom pom factory have my imagination swirling.

from parties, to weddings to fun photo shoots to office or home fun, these pom poms, large & small are intriguing. don't you just either want to jump into a pile of them or twirl around underneath an umbrella of them? did i say that out loud? ok, so i do. there i said it. enjoy the possibilities ;)

i first read this short poem by leunig on bookmarks blog, here. i ended last year a little bit anxious and impatient. because once i realize the things i want in life, i want them. it's just how i am. but i have had to remember that there is sometimes a process, a wait until you get there. i like this poem, for what it says, & for what it doesn't say.

jac tables.

over at the gavin coyle studio, they are putting together these jac tables. and i want one.

what's not to love. if you love trees, you'll love these. and who doesn't love trees, right? from the raw material, exposing life, rings of life throughout each piece. revealing a history, a sense of being, a span of time.

i love that you can see all of that. that the wood was not covered, painted or manipulated in any way except for shape. you could place these jac tables anywhere. seriously, anywhere. enjoy!

vauni fire globes.

these free-standing, biofueled flueless fire globes offered up by vauni have me wishing for snow and staying indoors. forever. well except for more coffee and red wine runs...

these vauni fire globes are sculptural all on their own, even when the fire isn't burning. and when it is? well i believe that fire is just sort of so primeval to us humans. that it literally fulfills an emotional need. and markus grip, head of design for vauni echos my sentiments on their site.

what about you? are you one of those people who needs, wants and loves fire? i'd love to hear...it would literally be a selling point for me if i was to buy a home. fire just does something ot me. enjoy!

i'm ordering something very cool on line for my son for christmas. (it's music related but i don't want to say yet in case he sees this post ;) and hoping to get in a bit more buying for others on my list. i tend to avoid malls. everything looks the same there and not much interests me. there are some really fun shops around me, local and interesting. so i'll be heading there first. the mall is usually my last resort. wherever you go, whatever you do this pre-christmas weekend, enjoy!

i think this halloween, i'd deviate from spooky and go all kinds of sexy. all kinds of starlet. all kinds of bridget bardot. (i've always loved this particular image of her) complete with heavy eyeliner, full, painted lips, hairsprayed (big) hair, cigarette and all. hey, a girl can dream right? i'd love to hear your halloween dress up stories...enjoy!

afternoon polka dots.

how fun would it be to incoporate a polka dot wall somewhere in your home? the bathroom, the bedroom, even the kitchen for that matter? not sure if i could actually commit, but the idea if it alone sure is super fun.

a late day post. & classics.

ooh, sorry for the late day post, a bit of running around today took longer than i thought. i'd been savoring this shot, found via and this bag was like dancing with me. it's just simply holding all of those classics, the rolled up, gently worn jeans, that white top, whether it be a t-shirt of something a bit more feminine, such as this pretty number and topped off with the classic black patent leather heels. am i right or am i right? ah, yeah....

as for me, this definitely tops at number one for a go~to classic outfit. i also love a good pair of ballet flats and a short, pretty, dress. you can't go wrong with either! enjoy...

a sunday view. for you.

there of course is something to be said for beautiful/amazing/intoxicating views. this sunday, this little white beauty, perched atop this wonderful pile of rock, is my friends, a spectacular sunday view. especially whilst sipping ethiopian coffee and dreaming the morning away...

pretty pots and getting outside.

this wednesday, i wanted to share a very pretty pot maker, de castelli. oh, and they offer a wide variety of other beautiful things too, but today, i'm just loving these pots...





are you an outside person? do you love being outside, biking, running, gardening? or are you honestly one of those, i'd rather be indoors types of people? i'm an outdoors person. i have to be outside. outdoors is where i go to breathe, to relax, to calm down, to get excited, so for me today, these pots put me in a great mindset, excited to contemplate where to place them, what to place in them, and to just plain enjoy them, and of course, outdoors.

p.s.) speaking of the outdoors, did you guys see this post on cup of jo about the glow in the dark driveway? yeah, i said glow in the dark driveway, how awesome would that be? so awesome, that's what!
