hi, here's to hoping you are cozy this weekend. digesting lots of holiday comfort food, adjusting to the seasonal change and getting into the holiday spirit. for some reason i'm not in xmas panic mode. i've slowed down this year, enjoying walking local main streets, and poking and shopping for more special gifts. it just feels nice. 

i'm also reading this cover to cover, mapping out our route, getting the main aspects booked (flight done!) like car rental, places to stay etc, then let the wandering in between begin. cannot wait!

hi there, how are you doing? i write this post while building antibodies from my recent vaccine booster, yay! ha! seriously though...we are in strange times whilst we attempt to celebrate the holidays. and i know you know. and don't get me wrong, i sure am trying, and i am sure you are too. 

so! what i'm doing is staying away from the news best i can. i have acoustic guitar christmas music on repeat, i'm peloton-ing myself silly, staring at the extra christmas lights i added to the house this year and yeah, breathing in all of the positive vibes that i can. i hope you are hanging in there. i hope you are able to put some of the crazy on your peripheral and dive head first into everything else that makes you happy, everything else that calms you and gives you hope. it's there if you squint your eyes, trust me i see it! go ahead, squint your eyes. do you see it now? see, i told you. happy holidays, happy new year!🌲

vauni fire globes.

these free-standing, biofueled flueless fire globes offered up by vauni have me wishing for snow and staying indoors. forever. well except for more coffee and red wine runs...

these vauni fire globes are sculptural all on their own, even when the fire isn't burning. and when it is? well i believe that fire is just sort of so primeval to us humans. that it literally fulfills an emotional need. and markus grip, head of design for vauni echos my sentiments on their site.

what about you? are you one of those people who needs, wants and loves fire? i'd love to hear...it would literally be a selling point for me if i was to buy a home. fire just does something ot me. enjoy!

fall is for fire.

fall is for fire. i mean, let's face it...who isn't drawn to a good fire? winter is for fire too, but the autumn is our first chance at it after a long beautiful warm summer.

i've noticed as i've driven around my area already this fall, especially happening by commercial spaces savouring their outdoor patios just as long as they can, that there are certainly some very cool options for outdoor fireplaces. these from planika have my attention today. why? just because they're different. that's why...

i love that a coffee table is transformed into an indoor/outdoor spectacle. a place to gather, in a primeval sort of way, around the fire, mesmerized and captivated. relaxed and rejuvenated. fire does that. i don't know if any of us know why, but it does.

i hope that your tuesday is starting off in a productive and positive way. i have beaucoup amounts of work to do today for my graduate courses. so i'm planted right here for a while, my view the computer screen. i'll get out for a run or something though, every now and then, must. step. away. from. the. computer. ;) enjoy!

a summer home in sweden.

every now and then i'll peruse the pages of architectural sites, ogling the amazing designs, landscapes, angles, lines and materials used, all of it. every now and then, those more stark environments, sometimes evocative of scandinavian design stop me, and you know what? they don't appear sterile for some reason. this summer house in sweden is typical of what i'm talking about. the light, warm woods with burst of bright color, bringing amazing natural color, indoors. have a look...




i was really drawn in by all of that blue, and the way the light allowed to stream into the house bounces off of it. brilliantly. you could never be sad in this happy summer house.

designed by lasc studio,the designers aimed "to remain true to the materials typically used in the region, they chose concrete, pine and white plaster with the addition of vibrant colors to liven the inside." lasc converted an old farmhouse in skane sweden, with its two sided woodstove, all of this color, all of this light. i'm just enjoying, well, enjoying it. as my summer winds down here in new england, i'd love to able to hop into this space once the snow arrives, the blue alone would make me smile. enjoy!

california dreaming.

one thing i love about california design is the sort of daring~ness of it all. what i mean is anything goes, color, very modern design paired with comfortable natural elements. it all works. it's all because they dare to! this gorgeous space via best home interior.

when i saw these pieces, by marmol radziner, i thought, yes, perfectly california! this "kings road group", is carefully based on and reproduced through the original vision of r. m. schindler's red wood designs from the 1920's.

glow by flora and designed by eva schildt are mesmerizing. "inspired by long winter months in europe, eva schildt, from stockholm, has designed "glow", an object of light and fire whose interplay of light and shadows conjures up bewitching structures in the landscape."

the montmartre table and chairs, i love for a couple of reasons. by designer jonas wagell for mitab, these chairs i adore for their simplicity...imagine the possibilites from topping that table with a pretty little vase, or a tea party, or candles and wine to adding dainty little pillows to the chairs. i also am drawn to their clean look and soft, curved shapes. very welcoming.
these outdoor, super fun chairs are one of my new favorites. to add "different" in your outdoor seating area. framura by designers sezgin aksu and silvia suardi for de padova. it's a sun cot, it's a nest, it's a chair, hassock or rocker. it's whatever your little heart desires :)


what would a post be from me without lighting right? well, here you have it, the perfect outdoor lamp, called plis, from designers david ramos and jordi bassols for vibia. bringing the warmth of indoor lighting outdoors. i love this!

i love this new take on the "lawn chair", called "slim inno", by designer harri korhonen and based out of finland. stackable, without armrests, suitable for outdoors, painted or natural, or add a cushion. completely versatile and decorative all at once.

rubik stools by designers marco pocci and claudio dondoli are fascinating for their transparency. made of polycarbonate, non-toxic material "with optimum physical properties, shock resistant and unbreakable." perfect for the outdoors!

dune sunbed. with quick dry cushions and ability to withstand salty air and the suns rays, dune is perfect for any residential or commercial space, anywhere!

getting outdoors is something all of us are wishing for on the east coast, and today after a morning run, (in the sun i might add!) spring is finally feeling close by. i wanted to feature today, some "different" thoughts and products on designing for the outdoors. remembering that there is more out there than your typical lawn chairs and hanging lanterns. especially for those holding special events such as parties, weddings, reunions or for any type of commercial use...mix it up! piece it together differently. happy monday all and enjoy the outdoorsy kind of day!
