have a sweet weekend!

so, it has been hot, hot, HOT here in new england. no complaints but i'm looking forward to summer breezes, moving slower and sipping cool drinks this weekend...
(via)
summer is here and i've been enjoying every last little second, on every day. summer is my season. i love the lack of so many layers (aka: so many clothes), i love how everyone seems happier, healthier, more outgoing and somehow more relaxed.

a friend of mine ran into a guy the other who just hopped in a car, drove from kansas city and headed toward the east coast, just to drive it, just to meet people, just to talk to people and to be in many different moments. that's pretty cool in my book. i've always LOVED (and i'm talking REALLY LOVED) roadtrips. there is something sort of magical about them, something freeing about the feeling they evoke, the sensations that they trigger.

i'm planning one soon, to where? not sure yet. that's what makes it fun. enjoy and have a super sweet weekend friends!

saturday morning & tracy kendall walls.

some quiet wallpaper ideas for a quiet saturday morning. sipping coffee and enjoying the many textured, bespoke and unusual wall treatments offered up by tracy kendall.
i especially love the daring and experimentation of her textured wallpapers. from fringe to cut layers, to utilizing jigsaw puzzle pieces and sequins. ah, yeah, i said sequins. how fun right? way out of the box kind of fun! enjoy...

two new metallics.

loeffler randall has me envious of all things metallic for the fall. these joanna welted oxfords and those allie wedge booties are right up my ally, with rolled up jeans, or brand new black leggings and my favorite slouchy sweater. "a mix of sophistication and downtown cool."
pricey, but sooooooooooooo cool. enjoy!

sunday surviving...in style.

so, this sunday, i'd adore surviving in this manner. in this markies designed camper with these incredible folding out awnings. watching the sun set. sipping wine. breathing. i keep stumbling upon these amazing camper versions of paradise. it must be a sign...
happy sunday friends! enjoy it, in whichever style you choose ;)
p.s. find out more about this markies camper project, here.

worley's lighting. etsy afternoon finds.

i stumbled upon shelli worley's lighting and etsy site via design sponge, who featured her work this summer, here. and i seem to be on a upcycled and vintage kick today between both posts, so let's just go with it...!
i really love worley's cross between industrial & vintage with a bit of rustic thrown in for even more character. i could imagine any of worley's lighting, just about anywhere in my home.

have a great rest of this friday friends and i'll see you around the blogosphere this weekend, to say hi, to ogle your beautiful blogs and to become even more inspired doing it. enjoy ;)

azadeh shladovsky. i love these stools

i happened this weekend onto the beautiful style of azadeh shladovsky and her unusual stools. shladovsky is also considered for her "artful, empathetic interiors." you can read more about her here.
lately i'm really drawn to the variety of hunks and chunks of wooden stools/tables/sidetables out there and the artists/designers who imagine them. and many from found or recycled woods. some designers are implementing aspects or materials such as resin or metallics. transforming natural and forgotten pieces into masterpieces. i love that!

how is your saturday morning starting out? i'm sipping an amazing coffee (from a local roaster, here) and chilliiiiiiiiiing out. enjoy!

saturday night & a pretty pink chair.

hi friends, i sooooooo hope that you are enjoying your saturday evening. this is where i'd like to be, sipping red wine in this pretty as all get out pink chair.
(via)
i'm saying yeah for me, loudly tonight, because i completed my last final at harvard. in the rain. on a saturday. ah, yeah. so, it's done. so i'm sipping a red wine from washington state. 37% malbec, 26% cabernet, 20% tempranillo, 11% petite syrah 3% granache & 3% mourvedre. yikes, that's an awesome combination, no? sooooo delish. and when i'm washington, i need to go there, soon. :), enjoy!

super shapes. mid~day find.

how are you his mid~day saturday? i'm feeling energized, just a little more every day since i've been back so that's a good thing. i really love these shapes today, although, in general, i have always loved the shape of the circle. there is something so organic and easy about the circle shape. these fabrics offered up by baumann have me thinking creatively this afternoon...
what are your plans for this saturday evening? i wish i could say that i have something super exciting planned, but alas, i have one more final to tend to so it's last minute preparing for that tomorrow. after that, i plan on picking out a new delicious wine this weekend, getting in a run, in the sun, and just plain chillllllliiiiinnnnnggg out. i hope you are having an exciting weekend and that it is everything you want it to be...enjoy!

the genius house. & happy friday friends!

so, if you are going to call a house the genius house, then you have my attention. bates masi architects built this genius loci house in montauk new york. it was featured on the contemporist too, here. and the views? not even funny...have a look.
(click on images to enlarge the view)
there is so much about this home that i really enjoy. from the total incorporation into and around the natural environment, to the transparent nature of the interior. another words, even though areas or rooms are partitioned off, some are with slotted floating walls, and even when there are solid walls, they seem unobtrusive and out of the way. the rooms flow, from one into another, similarly to the natural environment in and surrounded by which they reside. and by the way, take a look at bates masi's website here. the slide show of their portfolio will have your jaw propped wide open for a while...

and then there's the sky. the sky outdoors seems to stretch somehow, right through the house, as if it never really ends once you're inside. i love that. and the views? can we talk about the views my friends? so, there, with those views, especially the last image's view. i want that this friday. i want so light a candle or two, pour some red wine and sit and just stare. care to join me? ;) enjoy...

happy harlequin saturday.

happy saturday friends. i'm glued (well not literally, but it sure feels like it!) to the laptop today, writing papers due for my courses in the coming weeks. in between the lines of writing, i'm sneaking a pattern break from ferm living. these harlequin patterned vessels and kitchen towels are on my radar today...

isn't a harlequin pattern just always sort of cheeky and fun? reminiscent of a circus, playful colors and dancing patterns. like i said, these are on my radar today...

ok, back to it! i hope this mid~day saturday finds you in your comfort zone, doing whatever it is that makes your day ;) enjoy!!

pudelskern. it's all about texture this friday.

for a company whose mantra is "we strongly believe in the necessity to add more layers to design," pudelskern certainly lives up to their word. layers of texture, depth in color, unusual materials. pudelskern is all about the surface, what your eye first sets itself upon, then their product draws you in, with intense interest...

looking closely below, this wall treatment actually serves also as a coat rack with protruding little orbs to hold your coat, towel, just about anything. so cool...

so pudelskern even has a materials design lab. that's how focused they are on the levels possible to achieve the ultimate in surface design. it's all about texture this friday, it's all about amazing.

hey, hey! happy friday friends. what are you up to? what are your plans? i'd love to hear! i am working like mad this weekend on coursework as the end of my semester is in sight (am i caught up with everything? ah, no.) but in between the panic and the typing will be a run outside or two and a glass or red wine (or two)! i hope that wherever you are this weekend, whatever you do, that you make it just how you want it! enjoy ;)
