it's the middle of september but it's going to feel like the middle of the summer in my part of the world this weekend. so i'm running to the beach for another day of swimming for sure! get it while i can. :) also i'm adopting a dog on monday!!! cannot WAIT. i will post pictures on my instagram feed and sorry if i overdo it on the new dog love photos soon, but i'm pretty darn excited to have this little guy in my life. i'm naming him jerry.

so in between swimming my weekend will consist of purchasing all items for jerry to welcome him home. i also hope to get in some writing as this is a new found artistic outlet for me. whatever you do, wherever you go, enjoy the heck out of your weekend!

turning toward autumn appetites, these potatoes look delish.

smile, it's friday!

i love this photo. saul steinberg, the american cartoonist and illustrator for the new yorker magazine loved creating these satirical paper bag masks during the 1960's...talk about great cocktail hour antics!
i find them fun, curious and completely amazing. i wonder whether or not he designed a look for people in particular, or whether or not the masks were drawn, at gatherings and parties and people just grabbed them at random? i'd love to be able to ask him!

how is your weekend looking? i'll be behind my computer most of the weekend as i continue toward my graduate thesis deadline (next month! ah!). i hope you are doing something more fun than that ;) enjoy!

the slag series.

scottish born designer david taylor has created a slag series of candlesticks incorporating waste leftover at a former iron foundry. have a look...
slag is a bi-product of "the smelting or refining of metal ore." david told dezeen magazine that he leaves the materials pretty much as he finds it. in a raw blue-black state.

as interesting as the slag is, the ways with which david positions each found chunk and what materials share the stage with the candle. from brass to aluminum they become something more, more exciting in some way. singularly they are stunning, but can you imagine hosting a dinner party and letting david's candlesticks line a long dining table? you wouldn't even need flowers! enjoy...

friday & lush & succulent.

happy friday friends! you've done it! you've made to another weekend...so you deserve a treat, like these pretty patterned "lush" & "succulent" tea towels offered up by gravel & gold...
these would also make great christmas or hostess gifts this season. gravel & gold is a collaborative shop, located in the mission district of san francisco. pieces, objects, are made from a variety of artists or "makers" as they are described, who by the way you can meet, here.

gravel & gold explains that their wares are made with "wit, utility, and beauty." that alone makes me want to buy something. enjoy!

postcards by quill & arrow. etsy love.

this monday morning, i'm loving this line, these textures and color palette combinations of postcards offered up by quill & arrow on their etsy site, here.
quill & arrow, really is beth, owner, maker, designer & printer...in west asheville north carolina. she is inspired by her surroundings, the grasses, the mountains and her etsy motto goes like this: "printing in the mountains, filling books with the journey." yeah to that!

i hope that your long weekend has been amazing! enjoy it some more why don't ya!

you need these trays. or at least i do!

if there is such a thing, tray love i mean, then this is it. serious crush on these trays offered up by winter bird co in sweden.
winter bird co.'s motto or philosophy is that they offer "lovely stuffs to get you through the winter, or a cold summer." and even better, everything is handmade in sweden.

but truly, my first love is the pattern detailing, the graphic and super fun nature of winter bird co.'s tray designs. talk about making entertaining even more fun that it already is? seriously fun. enjoy!

imagine...

this "affair tent" offered up by anthropologie and as part of their summer collection of outdoor goods has me imagining. just what for, who with and where i might have fun with this.
this tent is sort of like a blank canvas, for any occasion, for any special affair or event. you could imagine it any way you'd like. it's pricey, but if you are throwing one heck of a party, this is an amazing option. if it was in front of me right now, i just might move in! enjoy...

sunday mustache fun.

happy sunday friends! i know the mustache trend is getting to the point of overdone, but i thought this vase by jonathan adler and featured on the glitter guide was good old fashioned fun. ;)
the vase (holding peonies, my absolute favorite flower hands down) was used and styled as part of a birds of a feather regular brunch meeting. check out all of the images here, from tablescapes to feathers to that gold rimmed vintage glassware that was found on etsy. such a fun idea, collaborating/sharing artistic ideas over brunch. and pretty. enjoy!
