it appears to be a "bed" themed couple of days here at avant garde design. you can tell where my head is, hunkering down for fall and winter. is that what you're feeling too? if so, pick a bed, any bed. which one would you climb into to hibernate for a while? it's a tough decision, with this line of completely unusual and breathtaking beds, but as for me, i'm in bedroom #1 (at least for the first night:) as it has the feel of scooping you up and wrapping it's headboard and footboard around you, comforting you to sleep.
churchill. "this magnificent bedstead is inspired by the upholstered leather chairs of an english gentlemen’s club. strong, sleek and welcoming, the churchill is a bold style statement that invites you to relax and enjoy its timeless, sensual appeal."
bonaparte. "this grand louis philippe bedstead recalls the era of that most famous pair of lovers, joséphine and napoléon.
bonaparte features an inset carved panel at each corner and carved scrolled feet.
this bed is available in the low foot soclé version and in a range of over fifty leather options."
versailles upholstered. "the hand carved detail of this elegant bedstead is enhanced by the beautifully upholstered headboard. choose from one of the fine fabrics, specially selected by our design team, or a plain calico which can be covered with the fabric of your choice.
starting prices shown below are for wood stain finishes only. Silver (shown) or Gold leaf are optional extras."
rodin. relax in rodin’s magnificent curves, another classic lit bateau style that celebrates the rounded forms of the louis philippe period.
the rodin bedstead is available in the finest feathered mahogany veneer or in a rich feather walnut veneer."
tiger lily. "this striking bed is sure to be a talking point. tiger lily combines the simplicity of a shaker-style pencil post bedstead with exotic details to create a highly original design.
delicate oriental ‘parasols’ perch on top of finely tapered posts decorated with leaf details, while finishes include beautiful Zebrano veneers and fine feathered walnut."
rubens socle. "the rubens soclé bedstead, a traditional lit bateau style bedframe, but with a soclé (low end). a design classic in the simple, elegant style of louis philippe in cherrywood finish."
versailles. elegant detail with either gold or silver leaf finishes. stunningly romantic!
pugin.
"an unusual, hand-forged, gothic-style bed, the pugin bedstead comes complete with steeple-shaped knobs and parapet top rails. classic gothic arches are set elegantly between vertical rails, and the design is finished in antique silver, highlighted with gold."
sage. "this elegant model is a replica of a 1920s brass bedstead. expert craftsmen use special techniques to give it's square pure brass tubes a realistic antique look."
barley twist bed. a spectacular brass bed incorporating intricate ornamental design.
and so to bed, based out of london, offers traditional, at heart bed design, drawing from the past and taking on the future. i'm dreaming of a bed like one of these in my future, how about you?
on that note...i'm off for a run. i will dream of beds again later! enjoy...

fashion friday and plumo.
i forget where i first heard about plumo's wares, but so glad i did. based out of the uk,(and their prices are very good!) they are my style and color palette for fall. and with my boot dilemma, they've offered me more choices to contemplate over.
chie mihara shoes, graphite black suede with tassels. perfect for any fall outfit, from jeans to dress.
handmade in austria, these chocolate brown high boots have my name written all over them. i'd wear these every darn day.
this beaded velvet purse lined with satin, even a perfect clutch while wearing something simple like that wool jumper below.
ruched tote bag in vintage rose velvet. ah...yeah, i need that.
pale green silk evening dress layered with gray tulle. true love.
i'm a tights junkie, and these are fabulous and i need them...alot.
(faux fur by the way...)
this silk dress is perfectly summer transitioning into fall. gorgeous.
i want to wrap up in this fall wool jumper with those boots. how comfy!
so what do you think? is plumo for you? what are you lacking or desiring to complete your fall wishlist? my desire is boots, some chunky comfy sweaters as well as a beautifully fitted cashmere for when i'm feeling svelte and lean. also uggs? do any of you own a pair? what do you think? overrated or should i splurge? i've never owned a pair and i'm not sure if they are me but they sure do look comfy beyond words. enjoy your friday! what plans do you have? we are heading to boston to bop around, shop a little, have dinner and feel like we "got away" for the day. have fun!

dutch styling duo. friedamaria.
today, my head is in spaces like these from the amazing dutch duo, friedamaria. dreamy, foggy, soft, lazy and slow.
i discovered friedamaria's site through another fabulous blog, emma's design blog in sweden. found here. both truly inspirational, for light, texture, design, fun, whimsical, and inventive ideas.
i have lots to do and no gumption to get in motion. hmmm. i think i'll force myself into my running shoes, head out the door and be happy that a run probably jump started me for the day. how is your day going? how much do you love these inspirational photos. please visit both sites for more dreamy design eye-candy. enjoy!

bernhardt design.
i was exposed to bernhardt's pieces through my recent issue of interior design magazine. their logo is a straight red line (see 2nd photo) which turns up here and there throughout their wonderfully clean-lined pieces of furniture. and i love that.
their style is a cross between the jetsons and classical, if that can even be. but i think it is.
"bernhardt design markets to the architectural and design communities and is known for its excellence in design." bernhardt design also encourages up and coming designers and students in the design field to "make their products suitable for mass markets", creating an "interdisciplinary" course where students who excel, have their products included in bernhardt's standard product line.
i love too that their "look" lends itself to both residential and commercial use, not just one or the other. very versatile. versatile is good. :) enjoy your wednesday blogger friends! i'm completing a re-write on a paper for one of my classes and then will try to get a walk in. we've been lucky with our weather here!

bisazza mosaic tile.
when considering wall treatments, i love to consider the immense possibilities. maybe it's the artist in me with that inner voice saying..."if you don't find what you are looking for either in pattern, design or color, then create it, sculpt it, make it from scratch."
create pattern, pattern and pattern.
think outside wallpaper options: wow a client with tile pattern options, larger to smaller, keeping in a tonal color palette keeps the busy pattern at bay. so much for the eyes to follow, intriguing yet simply stunning.
from a beach house anywhere in the world to a swank commercial oceanfront hotel or spa, this coral tile depiction will fit right in.
crocodile patterned tile. consider the possibilities with adding this textural element to a space. any space really.
designing or re-designing an office space? corporate space? tile with numbers, how fabulous is this?
wonderful repeating key pattern in deep hot red. exotic, steamy, elegant and rich. perfect for a luxurious commercial or residential space, adding drama, excitement and dare.
imagine the limitless possibilities when tile is an option. like painting with tile, one can create a look, an original look at that, literally sculpted for their commercial or residential space. adding a conversation piece, texture, light, color, design, pattern and shape.
spaces that incorporate different mediums, textures are not only interesting, they are fabulous. originality is hard to come across these days and if you can pull it off, and different mediums like tile can help, then why not? go for it! love it. enjoy!
