hooked on these

born in brooklyn and now vermont-based artist altoon sultan is designing and producing these amazing textile pieces, "using the traditional technique of rug hooking", incorporating abstract patterns influenced and based on islamic design...
i would love a series of these placed together in such a way that each one stands out on it's own, but somehow they make up a larger picture or narrative somehow, at least in my imagination. see more of altoon's work here, & enjoy!

art wall styling

i've been veeeeery inspired by pinterest lately and many new art wall styling pins. i went through a phase where i was wall art styled out, if you know what i mean. it seemed cluttered and heavy and overdone. so in turn i paired down my apartment walls to a more minmalist style, only hanging pieces that i was really drawn to.

but a few of the pins below are tempting me back, to the well styled art wall...

what about you? did you get art wall styled out like me? i'd love to hear...enjoy!

monday & greg hart

i was taken back this weekend by the historically haunting portraits by artist greg hart...
(via)
this particular line of portraits are not his most recent works, but as you look into the eyes of each of greg's subjects, a historical narrative unfolds, overwhelming emotion, a proud yet vulnerable demeanor exudes from each face, each set of eyes, and the painterly way greg builds his subjects infuses both a sensitivity and a particular despondency that stops you. fascinating. enjoy!
