a formal office, sort of.

if is were asked to design the interior of a rather formal office, an office setting where you just can't go too off target with furnishings, i would definitely look at some of what t gebruder offers up. there is just a touch of informal, a touch of edge exuding from each piece. and i love that...

when writing about their pieces, sites such as architonic nail it when they say that t gebruder combines "art and technology into a formal unit." t gebruder also states that they "produce expressive pieces of contemporary history known as the new objectivity." pretty darn cool.

t gebruder is known as thonet throughout europe with some of their work designed by michael thonet. i just really like the added flair each piece offers an otherwise formal office space. a reminder in some respects, to not take the day too seriously, in the end. enjoy!

artisinal steel.

the german design company muller is offering up what they call artisinal steel shelves (oh and lots of steel other pieces too, like their modular sideboards which i LOVE)...and the sort of stunning simplicity and sometimes 2-toned paint scheme drew me in...

and so i'm sure that you are thinking, it's just shelving, what's the big deal? right? but the one big deal or at least very cool thing is that muller gets something right, besides their design sense and finished product...they state that "a piece of furniture can come in endless forms. only very few of them have already been discovered." don't you love that?

a reminder that even a shelf can be re-imagined, transformed, or seen in a new way. enjoy!

husk chairs.

i really like these for office or conference room chairs. you know...to do it a little bit differently.

they're called "husk" chairs. they are designed by patricial urquiola for b&b italia. there are endless color combinations, material and sizes, (like you can get extra large in these and be super comfortable at work ALL day!), & you can purchase matching foot rests too. okay, that would be dangerous while trying to get work done. a little too relaxing.

but seriously, i love when companies such as b&b italia offer a new take on the traditional, functional design. even getting you to look at an office chair differently. or more comfortably! enjoy...

julia's notebooks.

i've posted before about the fresh & fun graphic designs by julia kostreva, but these limited edition notebooks, and in collaboration with need supply co have me posting about her again...

spiral bound and lined, & inspired by artists such as david hockney these 4 sweet designs are, well, sweet.

carrying these into office meetings or coffee shops or buses or trains while you generate your best ideas? yes please! enjoy...

many offices (home or otherwise) utilize dry erase boards to generate creative ideas, list projects or to sketch out future designs, but what about this never-ending roll of paper as an alternative? to actually sketch, to visually see ideas come together and then keep them as "hard copies?" i LOVE it!

plus as your ideas are never-ending so too is the roll, just keep moving it forward. brilliant! enjoy...

graypants textural lighting.

i've posted about graypants and their super unusual, uber textural lighting before. but here are a few new favs...

and how about this custom chandelier above, made for airbnb headquarters? it's made from 25 thousand ping pong balls (each attached by hand!). their custom projects and work are unreal. you have to check them out here.

study spaces & places.

for some reason, even if i had an amazing desk or work space area in my home, i would still gravitate towards the kitchen or dining room table to get work done.

right now i'm at the end of a graduate degree and beginning my thesis writing stage. i'm researching and pretty much building my paper at this point. i'm sitting at my kitchen table. if i could be at another kitchen/dining table today, these are a few i would enjoy.

where do you go to get organized, get things done, to concentrate or feel that you can spread out? is it because of the furniture, the surrounding light? or do you just feel comfortable there and you're just not quite sure why? i'd love to hear....enjoy!

happy monday friends! i hope that you had a super relaxing weekend. i wanted to share this really great line of innovative seating offered up by skandiform...

skandiform describes their product line as having "scandinavian sense." they promote and manufacture product for office and "inspirational public spaces." what i truly love about companies and product lines like skandiform's is that they offer us new options for seating, for great design that translates outside of our residential spaces. companies like this understand that as we travel, work, play etc...we are still looking for comfort but paired with fabulous design lines.

as i notice more and more bloggers, setting up their own offices, truly creating a work space that exudes a personal style, functionality, and includes unique-to- them pieces, i am even more convinced that having choices, having furniture options and great design that works outside of our homes is equally important. enjoy!

green, light & office inspiration.

wow, as i plug away today on final revisions of a paper for one of my classes, i thought to myself, if this was my work environment today, with all of that light, with all of that green, somehow, my head might feel a little less cluttered and filled with a little more clarity and creativity. but alas, back to my kitchen table. ;)

here spaces.

i have alot of work slated for today, typing a paper, more research, typing some more, ok, you get the hint. i also work alot at my kitchen table. it seems to be the best space for natural light in my little cottage, and the table is large enough for me to spread my work out and be comfortable, organized and inspired. i'm not sure if i even had a more formal workspace, like a desk area, if i would use it. i might just migrate back to my kitchen table. today, here are some table spaces (and other spaces) i could easily sit at and get super busy...


i could certainly curl up here, plunk down my laptop and type away.




working out in the crisp fall air would give me energy, sure thing!

where do you best get alot of work done when you have to? where there are little distractions and tons of inspiration? do you leave your house and go out for it? to a library or bookstore? i've tried that but find myself people watching and that my eyes are drawn to other things or my ears are drawn to conversations, distracting me from my tasks at hand. so here i'll sit today, plugging away, wrapped in my favorite blanket, at my kitchen table. getting busy with it all! enjoy. ;)
