buying a swedish home? check out fantastic frank.

why is there something so compelling, something so almost perfect about swedish interiors? utilizing simplicity in the utmost non~boring of ways. and then there's all of that light, and all of that white...

i happened upon this site, fantastic frank, through emma's design blog. fantastic frank is a swedish real estate company showcasing wonderful swedish exteriors and interiors and will certainly tempt you, if you are not already seriously tempted, to empty your bank account and head to sweden to scoop one of these spaces right up.

hey hey for wednesday. we are all half way through, or at least heading that way, with our week. i hope this mid~week wednesday finds you in a really good place or space or frame of mind. i'm still biting my nails to get my last final back from harvard and my final grade. i took a final, late, while tending to my dad in the hospital, so now i'm on egg shells hoping that my last grade of the semester is at least close to what i had hoped...i'll keep you posted....enjoy!

lighting & line, mid~day lighting love

these spool lamps, offered up by lucente have my mid~day inspiration attention. the elegance of all of that white, the easy, simple design. and then as if to not drawn too much attention, yet it can't help but draw much of the attention, is that little line, that intriguing element of color, pleasantly interrupting all of that white space. just really fabulous lighting.

there is something very retro and very modern about these lucente lamps, all at the same time. for me, these would be super fresh and inviting in a kitchen space, residential or commercial. somehow industrial & utilitarian, somehow not.

heading up to boston again for a course meeting. my sister is coming along for the ride to keep me company so that will make it more fun. perhaps a glass of wine together afterwards is in order? most likely it will be. ;) enjoy the rest of your almost friday friends!

oluce. italian innovation

happy weekend friends! most of you know i'm a complete lighting junkie. alot of my design research definitely focuses on and is ultimately drawn toward lighting. this company, oluce, one of the oldest and still in operation in italy captured my heart and my imagination today.

oluce's lighting seem to resonate, they glow mysteriously yet very warmly. they are modern & vogue. they are spins, off of classic & structured design. this lighting doesn't fight the space, whether placed indoors or out. they compliment the space, they accentuate the space, giving it life and quietening the space when it is time. really lovely lighting.

we took a walk in the snow this morning before breakfast. the snow is steady falling and light, but not predicted to accumulate too much in my area. it's just enough to be pretty and wintry. we are hunkering in. how is your saturday friends? i'd love hear! enjoy...

deadgood. british design

deadgood is a cool company i found recently which features a super eclectic variety of british designed product. lots of color, texture, unusual shapes and materials. i just love companies like deadgood, they have fun with product, they test the boundaries, in both a beautiful & unique way. here are some of my favorites, including in this first image, this line of parquet herringbone pieces, really conceptual, really inventive.

deadgood is dead on...for cool, doing things differently furniture and lighting. and why not? with all of the design choices out there, designers/artists need product such as deadgood's. there is something for everyone in the product world. there is something fun going on in the world of deadgood. really fun!

happy almost friday friends! how has your week been going? mine has been consumed with course work, goofing off a little because it was my son's birthday, and now catching up on course work. it's ok, i'll get it all done! off to catch up on it now. enjoy your day!!

mineheart wallpaper & trompe l'oeil

ok, are you guys ready for this? this is wallpaper at perhaps its trompe l'oeil best. ornate, decorative, classic and subtle all rolled into big wallpaper roles of designer goodness. based out of england and offered up by mineheart, this company was only launched as recently as 2010 and with a playful innovative approach to design and wallpaper. have a look...

the chesterfield button back wallpaper is, i think, my favorite. i think it's because to me, it's the one that fools you the most. very 3 dimensional and i can see this in so many spaces, both residential or commercial. i just love it!
metal gate inspired, this wallpaper style evokes large, rich metal lace for a light, romantic feel.

the trend for bookshelves is sorting by color all of your favorite books. how about all white, for an ethereal yet crisp clean look? and for an even more minimalistic look, place them on a white bookshelf. remember, this is wallpaper friends! wow.

how about the look of equisitely ornate gates, wrought iron beautiful creating a "mysterious yet sophisticated look."

white paneling wallpaper inspired by georgian architecture for a classy classic look.

create you own instant reading room, equipped with vintage books and shelves.

roughly painted white wooden planks complete with nail holes for that cottage/shabby chic look.

so they had me at trompe l'oeil and they'll keep me at amazing. i would suggest any of these fab wall treatments for residential or commercial interiors no problem. whether they are hung on a single wall or an entire room. really the possibilities are endless. don't you think? would you want a treatment like this from mineheart in your home? your office, your restaurant, hotel or nightclub? sheesh, these are just so versatile it's not even funny. enjoy!

super light. super sweet.

i'm incredibly drawn today to the sweetness and light of this space featured over at bolig magasinet. seriously drawn. have a looksy...

especially since i've been glued to my computer and classwork (reading/essay writing) if i could turn around and walk into a space with this color palette and light, i'd breathe a sigh of wow. wouldn't you? i'm really loving the way they hung their art (in the first image). sort of layered and clumped haphazardly. just really fabulous.

hope this mid~week finds you warm (i say that because it's freezing here!) and energetic and you know what? if not, go, treat yourself to a coffee drink at your favorite cafe. it's one of my favorite things to do. somehow the day just gets better. ;) enjoy!!

antonio lupi. decadent beyond words.

i just discovered italian designer antonio lupi and his tubs made my heart skip a beat. if you are a "tub lover" like me, but are tub deprived right now, like me. this post will get your tub envy going and re~thinking the average tub experience. seriously...have a look...

antonio lupi's factory is located in the tuscany region of italy (ah, it keeps getting better doesn't it?) their products "present" in the good ol' USA so stop fretting! in fact they are right smack dab in chicago. from furniture, to those tubs! antonio lupi will make your heart skip a beat. completely luxurious, but hey, shouldn't a tub be luxurious? if it's not, why take one right? right. so, if you are in the market for a show stopping, jaw dropping, heart pounding tub, antonio lupi is where to look. then jump in...enjoy this almost friday everyone!
