somehow i missed this last month in the new york times. richard renaldi's "touchings strangers" project and portfolio in which he asks total strangers to touch, for just a short while, for just enough time to take a meaningful photograph. and in the end, i think something meaningful happened, for all involved...
renaldi, at times, had a difficult time convincing people to take part, especially when he asked orthodox jews to pose/touch un-orthodox jews, and some appear under duress in general. but for the most part, people seemed to embrace the notion, some even kissed! anyway, sometimes its the simple things we take for granted and it can also be the simple things, that when they happen, stop you and make you wonder why those simple things, like just touching a stranger, are so hard in the first place. enjoy!
