there's varied trends developing for this new 2009 according to the boston design center. in color we'll be surrounded by everything from blue hues, moody greys, berry brights, naughty neutrals to porcelain pales. for pattern it's blacks and whites, bountiful blossoms, timber and texture, dazzling damask and 70's boho. tons of layering of materials, patterns and colors. in the world of eco-friendly we're seeing trends towards windmill patterns in fabrics, designers and architects are using cork, bamboo, coconut and reclaimed materials. inspiration is international! global influences are abundant with english and french furniture and fabric styles to painted and weathered woods. asian influences of lacquered finishes, clean, simple lines. lots of functional fashion. storage is becoming vogue, how we store, how our storage compartments look and what they can add to a space. materials and surfaces are showing carves and curves. lyrical designs on tile and stone, motifs with movement and flow. definite jewelry inspirations as mentioned on my friend and fellow blogger belle maison's blog. rich jewel toned colors and shimmering faceted embellishments. lastly white on white! today's consumers are seeking clean, crisp whites, warm whites and stark whites...and lots of it. entire rooms swathed in white. do any of these predictions appeal to you? Any that you could live without? happy monday mornin'!
