repetition, rhythm, color.

founder and artist karen combs is responsible for the unusual, eye-catching hand printed wallpaper your are viewing today. after creating her first 50 foot roll, "staring at it, karen was entranced by its aspects of theme and variation. she liked the idea that the singular designs she had been doing could be distilled, and then repeated over and over. repetition, rhythm and color." i stumbled upon her designs while searching through and salivating over another great design mag. of course as i'm sure they are with you, her color, line and organic shapes within her designs grab you, mesmerize your eyes into following along. her designs are pleasing, whimsical, sometimes stately and classic. old fashioned wallpaper design meets punk. fabulously refreshing. read on her site about how she and her close crew print each sheet by hand giving each sheet it's own distinct look, separating each from the other. also interesting read about how she came to creating these sheets of printed paper for us to enjoy, as with any art, hers was a process of experimentation thus producing a gorgeous end result.
