i'm also a candle maniac. the soothing warmth they illuminate, the flame trances they put us in, fire is primeval, natural and necessary. candles, the more the better! as in this candelabra.
they call this "caged rocks" and i don't really know why i just love these! adding natural ingredients like flowers, rocks, wood, stone and sand to your spaces keeps you grounded. it has you remember to get out there, notice nature, feel objects and appreciate the simple pleasures provided for you right outside your door.

these fabulous metal letters could spell anything your heart desires. spell something out on a wall on an old weathered porch or in a beautiful dining room. you could really hang these anywhere........don't you think?
at west end is another one of those companies that i keep checking on just to see what they've come up with next. alot of products with green in mind, having been recycled, made by artisans from other countries offering their support, quirky, every day, not so every day and fun. i feel spaces that we create should have rough and pretty parts, old and new, pieces that are raw and pieces that have a history. at west end, they portray objects and pieces that seem to have a little of both. obviously you are buying a piece that is new to you...but if you're buying the recycled globe (pictured above) hand crafted from old tomato paste drums in haiti, then i'd say you are bringing in something to your space with a past, with energy and with history. pretty cool.
hey, happy weekend everyone, i'm off to watch my son in a play this weekend (he's been working on it for about 5 weeks now) and also checking out a new art show/cocktail reception at "M Atelier" in mashpee here on the cape. our friends mary and mark own a very different jewelry store/art gallery that is new to them and i am intrigued by one of the artists they are featuring this month. they change out the art that they feature montly and it's most fun to see what is next. i'll report back with some fun had and hopefully some pictures. now...go drink some wine.
