this series, of the backs of heads and hair by artist jaclyn conley (and featured on miss moss's blog) stopped me today...

i love when an artist isn't so predictable, things are not necessarily explained or centered or understood. to not see the face of a subject, some might find strange or frustrating or wrong in some way. i find it interesting, provocative and amazing.

i hope that your sunday morning is amazing too! i'm sipping costa rican coffee, getting ready to dive into graduate reading and later, laying in the sun on my tiny deck space. have to! enjoy....

i can't resist a couple of handsome faces! what are you up to this spring weekend? i've had a couple of craaaazzzzzy busy weeks. yikes. so on sunday, working on graduate work is going to seem relaxing and like a breeze. really it is!

but in between work stuff, i plan on waking up tomorrow and listening to the rain (it's supposed to pour rain in the morning and it's finally warm enough for me to sleep with a window or two open!), i'd like to catch up on some of my favorite blogs, sip coffee slower this weekend and slow down in general. i hope that are you are looking forward to some down time too! enjoy...

stylized seating.

a number of years ago, i began putting together inspiration books/boards for the design of a coffee/wine bar i wanted to open. i definitely knew i wanted exceptional seating, out of the ordinary and frankly a bit edgy and off beat or even a little wild....

there are a number or companies/designers that offer that. i filed images away, cut out particular product from books, pasted them here and there, it was fun. i wanted people to walk through the door and be wowed. there are not many places that wow me, and i wanted that. and if i was going to do it, it was going to DO IT!

the italian company sedes regia might have been one of those seating companies i would have bookmarked. their seating is out of this world, exceptional and just, wow. sometimes you are after wow and there are companies like sedes regia that bring it. you know what i mean? happy friday friends! enjoy...

sweet spots.

this house/studio tour posted on sukio's blog, of a san francisco apartment, designed by catherine kwong is simply stunning...

from the artwork and placement of it, to the rich tones and fabrics utilized throughout the space, to the very intentional (and very cool!) addition of vintage metals and brass, the entire space is more than interesting to the eye. there is a mix of familiar and reminiscent eras gone by that lead to the unknown and inventive modern eras to come.

there are so many talented designers, putting spaces together, combining materials, artwork, furniture lighting, all of it, in very beautiful ways. i love that....enjoy!

color loving.

oooh, as the weather is swinging into warm, as mornings and evenings have that glow, that warm luster and color intensity, i'm drawn to all of that...those incredibly warm tones...

i found these via l'esthetique de l'inventaire, very cool tumblr site find. chock full of fashion, color palettes galore, drama, art, just tons of visual eye candy. just fyi...enjoy!

desert installation.

artist lea donnan is taking found objects, salvaging items, combining them into crochet shelters. oh and then placing them in the desert and other breathtaking spaces and places...

lea has a vast and varied background as an artist and a body of work that includes, object making, installation, video and performance art. you can read alot more about her here, and see more of what and how she creates too. enjoy!

sideboard & stools & noodles.

noodles noodles & noodles. this is a cool company with and industrial edge for sure...

from the white baked enamel sideboard with rivets to those adjustable vintage inspired steel and wood stools, the structured furniture line offered up by noodles conjures up a time gone by, a city, gritty line of furniture.

and sometimes you are seriously looking for all of that, that wood & steel component or mixture of materials and a serious industrial style in either your commercial or residential spaces. in large quantities or small. i even think one stool as a bedside nightstand is a very cool idea! enjoy...

i hope that your mother's day was everything you wanted it to be. mine was surprisingly relaxing beyond words. just what i wanted. i sat out on my tiny deck soaking up a warm sun (bonus!), drank mimosas with my breakfast, then ended up at my favorite thai restaurant at night where my son whipped out money to pay. my heart sank. why can't it be mother's day everyday? i vote yes! enjoy...
