it's tuesday, it's all about garsnas.

after a long holiday weekend, beautiful weather, working, playing, sipping a little extra wine than normal ;), it's time to recoup, and what better way than having a seat in fabulous options such as these, by garsnas...

oh yeah, garsnas has beautiful lighting too!

i am always amazed at the options out there for seating. whether you are seeking indoor or outdoor options, the selection, if you're willing to broaden your horizons and shop other than mainstream spots, is limitless and oh so fabulous! check out garsnas, a swedish based company but with satellite locations in pennsylvania and connecticut for us u.s. based shoppers. so, no excuses to do your seating, a little bit differently...

how was your memorial day? did you run around or super relax? we were a little bit tired from our graduation whooping it up (see post below), so, my love layed like a log on the couch napping by mid~day yesterday, i began painting a vintage free standing cabinet of my mother's which i will use in my kitchen to store my antique & eclectic bunch of tea cups and saucers which i sup my coffee in each morning...(can't wait). i'm painting it a robin's egg blue and am now in search of a cool (maybe pink?) vintage glass knob for the front. i'll share pictures when i'm finished, hoping for end of this week;) for now, enjoy!

happy monday & graduation snippets.

veritas. perfect.

here i am beginning our walk toward harvard yard, wheat in hand.

we stayed at the fairmont copley plaza hotel. a grand dame of a place, dating back to 1912. i kept looking up, it's where all of the beautiful was.

the morning after graduation & dinner, we all headed toward the airport to send my dad off and to grub down on breakfast in beacon hill at the fill-a-buster restaurant. actually the french toast there was killer!

me, martin and jay. companions at harvard, survivors of harvard french courses;)

i saw this on the back of one of the bicycle cabs, it made me smile. (poking fun at the duck tours;)

i loved walking toward harvard yard, with lines like this of graduates, from every harvard college, all walking, from all directions, descending on the yard. really surreal. gave me goose bumps!

me & my love. diploma in hand. yeah!

great faces, on great places, in boston.

cafe vittoria in the north end for after dinner espresso and tiramisu, completely delish!

me with my very old harvard book. my great, great, great grandfather graduated from harvard college in 1869. i carried his harvard class book with me the whole day for good luck!

seems like a strange picture to end my graduation post with but here's the story. well, sort of. as we were on our way to the fill-a-buster restaurant in beacon hill, we passed a fox news station that is there. well...i kid you not, my father practically lept from the car, ran, kneeled down and payed some sort of religious homage to the place. he's, let us say...addicted to fox news and this for him was mecca, the holy grail, you name it. his ship had landed and well, you get the picture. long story. ;)

so there you have it, our graduation weekend in short, but in fun to the fullest. it really was a magical few days all culminating from beaucoup work, driving, sleepless nights and papers and exams. i wouldn't have changed a thing!
enjoy this memorial day friends. we are off to plunk in chairs at a favorite beach, with books, beers and something delish to snack on! wherever you are, whatever you do today, enjoy!!!

bysteel. getting into outdoors.

i'm lately loving the astonishing outdoor line by, bysteel. cut aluminum, alot of white, soft patterns. this line my friends is when you want to do outdoors differently, for residential or commercial, just differently. have a look...

this matte white aluminum & colored plexiglass "clover" light, with compact fluorescent light source will illuminate your summer evenings nicely.

i love how the patterns of bysteel's pieces, whether outdoor lamps or furniture, lead you and your eye toward the natural patterns of the world just outside.

cut, gleaming flowers, soft, delicate, perfect for sultry summer nights outdoors.

maybe you or your client prefer black? bysteel has pieces in black too, stunning.

bysteel offers a more than interesting array of outdoor flower boxes, stands, pots, this one, for sure would make a statement, residentially or commercially.

i think that when designers and companies not only choose to create innovatively for indoors but the outdoors, to me, they are really thinking. (and designing of course!) bysteel is doing both, and doing it brilliantly!

hmmm, this might be my last post until friday. why? because i'm attending my graduation, not to keep blabbing on about it of course (well, maybe a little) but i'm uber excited. for a couple of reasons...my dad is flying in for it, i have my favorite restaurant lined up for my graduation dinner, i get to wear a cool cap & gown, and it's in harvard yard. those days won't be topped for quite some time, so i'm off to enjoy them! i'll see you back here friday with some photos of the fun...for now, enjoy!

monday morning & jaime hayon.

good morning friends! happy monday morning...over the weekend, i spotted a rug designed by jaime hayon and my head went spinning. i thought, how amazing that in a world of outdoing one another, going over the top with either pattern, color or shape, a rug so simply and classically designed can still stop me, or you or all of us. jaime hayon does that, the rug i'm writing about is below, in white, in beautiful. take a peek at some of hayon's many other brilliant creations...

with this "favn" sofa, a danish name for "embrace", here, jaime hayon and fritz hansen collaborated on this very organic, shell based with an inviting super soft middle design. decorative but combining texture and tone, just a sweet little sofa!

i'm super drawn to this rug which jaime hayon is offering through the rug company. an original design, simply and classically elegant and exciting all in one rug.

the "bardot" sofa for bernhardt, according to hayon, "feels like a fruit, tender to the touch", wow. hayon notes that many sofa designs are just too big for particular homes or apartments and he wanted to create a line that looked and felt generous but that would fit in smaller homes or apartments. love these!
here hayon pairs with bizazza, one of my favorite bathroom lines and accessories. this cut mirror and gold rimmed sink, ah, stylish, chic and drama, drama, drama!

i found these grid vases which hayon created for gaia and gino of turkey, intriguingly beautiful.

here, hayon pairs with swarovski for these sparkle shades definitely creating a new form of chandelier. i love the dark versus the twinkly light of it. love i say!
the "tudor" chair, for established & sons and designed by hayon is chair meets beautiful to say the least. and great legs no?
lastly this morning, but not least, this "kubo-kube" cabinet designed by hayon for palluco, is really a cabinet within a cabinet, revealing what is shown and what is maybe hidden. and the idea behind the "halo" mirror is simply magic. "its' classically-organic frame contrasted with the digital space-like effect of the degraded reflexion, brings to life a memorable piece to experience." yeah, it's that!

whoa! such a nice boost of design amazing~ness for this monday morning. to get us all going, our minds, our bodies our pens and paint brushes. today, i'm just enamored by jaime hayon's designs.

how was your weekend? mine was full and fun. today, rather tonight i am excited to head to harvard for a cocktail reception for recent graduates (me, yeah!). i'll put on a beautiful dress, killer shoes and grab my love and go! can't wait. graduation is this coming thursday, my dad is flying in, we are heading to boston for 2 days and i'll be taking way too many photos, but hey, it's graduation. i'll share some photos by the end of the week! enjoy...

designed by nature.

happy friday friends! today i woke up and went out to an early breakfast with my love. driving there and home, it was so foggy, very dense, and somehow struck me as super beautiful. after driving into my driveway, i grabbed my (new) camera and headed to one of the beaches near my house. i wanted to share how mystical and dreamy it was while i walked and how nature really designs in her own way, and changes those creations daily...

and look! near the end of my walk, you can see it can't you? peeks of sun, the fog was beginning to lift, slowly fade to clearer skies and sunshine. yeah!
the camera i bought a few months ago is a canon powershot sx30 1S. I LOVE it! i'm still getting the hang of it but as i use it, i see improvements each time and have more fun realizing what it can do.

i hope this weekend finds you creating, resting, have a blast, whooping it up or chilling out, whatever you're looking for, i hope you find it! tomorrow i'm heading to boston to pick up my cap and gown for graduation next week! i'm smiling so big, you just can't see it ;) enjoy...
