diy plant stand.

instead of trying to find the perfect place to style your new plant, cactus or succulent...why not make the space?
i like this diy idea. it's fairly straightforward but also one of those diy ideas that doesn't look like you made it yourself. another great thing about it? it looks like you could do this, this weekend!

easy peasy. enjoy!

the black house.

did any of you guys see this, the black house in real living on line? the house is pretty darn cool, tons of rich, deep color contrasted by large swaths of bright and vibrant color. it's really striking...

the home features polished concrete floors, besser block walls and a super daring black ceiling. it's one of those homes where the more you look, the more you like. see more of the black house, here. and enjoy!

stable tables. from e15.

happy monday friends! as of late, there are some downright stable tables being offered over at e15. and stable doesn't have to mean boring or fixed and utilitarian. it's all in how you look at them, present them, display them, use them.
i find these designs by ferdinand kramer & mark holmes to be modern and enduring pieces. these tables blend into diverse spaces and places. residential or commercial. they are part sculptural, part industrial and certainly timeless. i really like the use of bold colors. sometimes bold is the only way to go.

i woke up today feeling like something really great was going to happen. i'm not sure what that might be, but if great happens, i'll share it with you!at the very least, it's a good feeling to have. enjoy!

miniforms.

the beautiful italian company miniforms started out designing small tables, in 1962. now, working with avant garde, young italian designers, miniforms has evolved into the design of chairs, larger tables & bookcases. another thing i love about miniforms besides the designs?

the fact that they, being avant garde and all, utilize an array of interesting and daring materials, such as aluminum, glass, & sheet metal. i love designers that aren't afraid to incorporate unusual/textural materials in their pieces. because after all, that only makes it a more fabulous design world, chock full of amazing options...here are a few of my favorite miniform pieces...
what's not to love? enjoy!

grain. social values. good business.

this mid~day thursday, i'm inspired by artists/designers such as james minola & chelsea green at grain. they are "design thinkers with the shared vision of a more sustainable future." from grain's up~cycled electrical wire rings to their hemp woven round mirrors, grain offers not just clear headed, good for the environment design, they offer color, texture, they offer originality, they offer truly one of a kind pieces. they offer a perfect mid~day reflection on good design.

love it! how is your mid~day turning out? i'm headed (again) up to boston for a study group. but, in between the drive and the group discussion, i feel the need to pop into a shoe store i spotted with pretty, brightly colored wedge shoes, which, if i'm so inclined i could snap up and put away for spring.

hey, i have to make all of these trips and studying a treat every now and then right? right! enjoy the rest of your day ;) i hope it's going really well.....

smart is green and green is smart.

it's monday friends! don't frown, it's a fresh start to another clean slate week, monday's should be celebrated as the day we begin to get more done, more designing, creating, exploring, working and reaping the rewards of all of that! we should also celebrate today this amazing new~to~me company i found, green furniture out of sweden. have a look at their very green, design bounty...

how sweet is this "sheep bench"? unused wood planks, recycled into this fabulous bench and covered with lamb's wool? oh and they conveniently left a little part of the bench exposed to place your glass of wine or cup of coffee...genius!

i was first drawn to this company because of these lights, "leaf lights" compiled from natural birch, unbleached wool felt "leaves" for a dramatic yet so soft appearance, whether hanging as a pendant or standing, just so sensational!

so, this "green sofa" is made from so many recycled materials, rubber, fabric, utilizing materials such as horse hair and lump felt (recycled fabrics) and with this modern 60's feel, it's also designer gorgeous!
this little "flour fellow" beauty is designed by johanna hansson and is large, made from cotton and hemp and can be used as a poof, sat upon, leaned against, and comes in a very natural hemp look or other eco~friendly prints such as this. nice accents!

and this very sculptural, tinted "stack c" chair or dining chair is available in natural birch, oak, tinted black, tinted green (like so) or green green. they can be stacked and are quiet and relaxing, all wood, no metal. really beautiful!

this "multi c bench" designed by johan berhin with custom width and bend on demand is intriguing and i could see this piece or pieces in both residential or commercial spaces easily, such fun!

loving this building blocks book shelf. using wood waste which comes off of the floors of the wood flooring industries, green furniture recycles it with pride. this shelving unit can be redesigned on a whim and hung from the ceiling even! how cool...
i just love this company, for all that they design, for their recycling consciousness and for the fact that every inch of their pieces is so well thought out and just so unique and fun! do you buy green? do you have any unique or concept, conversation pieces that you share with guests who enter your spaces? hmmm, the one super interesting favorite piece i own is my coffee table which i've featured before. the top is pumpkin pine (a beautiful color) and the base is an up~cycled or recycled base of an old wood stove. i love it and it makes for a great conversation piece.

i hope your weekend was everything that you wanted it to be. now get out there! get going on having a great monday ;) enjoy...

la corbeille. a nice visit in their universe.

when i happened upon la corbeille, i did next what i always do upon finding fabulous new sites, designers, companies and product lines, i read their "about" section. the "about" section is an important element to a site i feel because it offers up and explanation or definition of the designers, the product they have created, their philosophy, how they view design, the design industry and the world really. on la corbeille's "about" page, the statement that had me smiling was "we wish you a nice visit in our universe." it was love at first site.

the shade is the lamp here at la corbeille. genius! hang it, table~top~it, place it anywhere by grabbing the easy~peasy handle at the top. so great!
i'm drawn to not only the textural but the geometrical element that this table offers to any space, residential or commercial. oh, and it folds up easily too! that makes it extra cool. ;)

la corbeille had my head turning at their line of unusual book cases and shelving. from this ladder/bookcase to the very snake~esque bold red bookcase, your options have now increased for displaying any or all of your favorite books!

la corbeille offers up a line of serving and dinner plates, all so very trompe l'oeil, that are far from the typical. from appearing to be torn, ripped, burnt or scratched these are perfect to bring out for unexpected guests!

just look at one of their plates closer, isn't the trompe l'oeil simply amazing. how fun to serve unexpected guests on!

whether you choose aged leather or one of my favorite creations ever, felt (theirs is recycled felt, even better right?!) la corbeille states that these super fun rug pieces "can be nested in every direction for a multitude of possible combinations."

i have a serious "thing" for lighting and i have an even more serious "thing" for cage pendant lamps. why? not sure, but the mixture of stiff, hard wire meets soft oozy lighting makes my heart skip a beat. la corbeille calls them "airy & poetic". love that!

enjoy this new to me and hopefully new to you now site, la corbeille. very french, very fabulous! new ways to view just about anything you take for granted while designing. i love that. things that have you either scratching your head, send you smiling, get you thinking or wow you in between all of that. that's what it's all about in the long run. enjoy!!

plastic fantastic.

this plastic fantastic collection offered up by jspr is one of their most popular lines. furniture completely covered in rubber, super soft, super flexible and super durable. just super then! i especially love the red for the holidays. i'm not sure i'd like an entire home of rubber furniture, but imagine one piece as that ultimate conversation piece? it would be fun no? hope your monday is starting off fantastic. ;) i'm wrapping up a paper, then braving the snow and heading to boston for my last final of the semester! yeah for me. enjoy!
