happy sunday!

what are you up to this weekend? anything fun?
(via)
i'm trying to quell my panic at the nearness of the holidays. to head it off, i've started decorating super early, like last weekend, garland, sparkly strings and lights...trying to dive straight into the sensations of winter and all that goes with it. it feels pretty good actually! this weekend i've been shopping a tiny bit, grabbing ingredients to make these beauties for thanksgiving and sitting around in my slippers writing (the best!).

wherever you go, whatever you do, have a cozy happy sunday! & some fun finds from around the world wide web:

want a pair of these for every day of the week.

how fun are these pretzel stud earrings?

loved this, 10 questions that YOU should ask in an interview.

yum & yum!

salivating over all of the rich color, pattern & texture in these spaces.

loving these sour earrings in iridescent.

what a beautiful wall unit.

a super fun (& cozy!) striped sweater.

crushing on the look of this 1960's style sofa.

these mantis lamps are 💋

would make for a pretty kitchen table.

and love love love the texture these dining chairs would add!

currently my favorite bar stool.

adore the simplicity of this sunset rug.

a sweet vintage wave vase.

love every room of this compact coastal house.

lots of architectural inspiration here.

i'd like to try this do-it-yourself clay chime string for next summer.

william sonoma is killing it with these christmas holiday baking molds, loving this one and this one!

how fun is this brass door handle?

and about sex, i loved this piece.

enjoy!

new lighting from the urban collection

today i'm enjoying many of the new lights offered up by the urban collection, all of that brass and glass and white...
this new collection is reminiscent of lights found in antique homes, homes with a history to them, sconces from my grandmother's bathroom, european kitchen ceilings, a new england home's bedroom, spaces like that, yet all with a modern aesthetic.

these were a few of my immediate favorites, but see many more here. i'm leaning more and more these days toward bright whites, clean lines, touches of brass are nice too. (though i'm not opposed to the occasional wow piece in spaces) what about you? are you going all out these days in the world of lighting or keeping it simple? i'd love to hear...enjoy!

rose & fitzgerald

i love this company, rose & fitzgerald. rose & fitzgerald is a husband and wife duo and this is how they describe themselves and their product line and why they do this..."we lived in uganda, africa for three years, seeking out beauty and talent in a part of the world brimming with intrigue, untapped potential, hidden treasures, age-old artistic methods, and natural, raw materials that reflect the beauty of the wild, delightfully-chaotic landscape in which we lived."

and of course the video, in their own voices says it all best. i was really drawn to anything connected to brass that rose & fitzgerald and their artisans make and offer. but they offer so much more, fabulous hand-woven storage baskets naturally dyed with non-toxic pigments from "seeds, roots, flowers and berries." yeah, things like that.

or wonderful wood pieces like this white dipped teak tray. these are uncommon pieces, great gift ideas, wow home accessories, all sourced ethically, with heart and intention and attention to detail. they are special. so many of our purchases in life should be special. enjoy!

so into gold

scouring the internet these days, i'm inspired and moved by the color gold, in every which way, by all kinds of objects and shapes...
(links)
isn't it funny how we go in and out of color inspiration? what makes us in? what makes us out? not sure. but i'm so into gold these days. maybe the summer sun is to blame. enjoy!

happy august! & workstead lighting

i'm loving this lighting find this monday, (and the name!) workstead...
founded in 2009 by stefanie brechbuehler and robert highsmith, workstead bases themselves between brooklyn new york and charleston south carolina focusing on "architectural and interior design, lighting, furniture and exhibitions."(see many of their impressive projects and commercial accomplishments here) but it is their brass lights that have captured my attention today.

as workstead describes their palette as "strong and rich, yet simple and efficient" i might also add in elegant here. there is something special about the lovely design of their brass lighting line, a rather sensual dance that is performed and accomplished between material and form, a keen understanding of each other's role in the overall design. and there are those times, as designers and artists, when we consider the work of our contemporaries, such as the lighting line that workstead is designing and producing and we say to ourselves, they've absolutely nailed it. in every way. this, for me, is one of those times. i love that! enjoy...

brass pairings

austrian-based nina mair, who i have featured on the blog in the past, offers up so many super unique options for your home or commercial spaces (see more of nina mair's selection here), but today i'm drawn to their pairing of brass with materials such as soft, rose leathers, beechwood, & glossy MDF board. the combinations are intoxicating. i want one of each of these...
enjoy!

simple proportion and forms are at the base of crosby studio's work. i'm seriously in love with these brass plated chairs and bookcases, those blush powder coated pieces. in love i tell ya! see more of crosby studio's work and projects here. & enjoy!
