maisie maud broadhead.

do you ever fuss with all of those cable cords we need in our spaces to get by, stay powered or connected? i do! i have cable for my internet and i have, what i thought was an ugly white cord, that runs along my living room wall at the base and over to my computer area. i try to hide it, secure it, all for the cord to remain out of sight as that eye sore...but unfortunate necessity. well, maybe i don't have to...

thanks to the great style files blog, i've been introduced to the work of maisie maud broadhead, an artist out of england, talented, inventive and brilliant if i do say so myself, and i do! so...when you're fighting with cords and losing the battle, give in to designing with them, accepting them and appreciating them for what they may be able to offer to a space! how fun is that?
enjoy your monday after the long holiday weekend everyone!

shout out for the domosfera blog/magazine.

so, you've been shopping like mad, cooking like mad, and working like mad. take a break for some beautiful spaces to breathe in, offered up from domosfera, a fabulous (new to me) blog/magazine from poland. besides being unable to translate it yet, i've scrolled and scrolled through their archives and have been given a design injection, a boost of inspiration, they are...a breath of fresh air in the design world.

tomorrow is a day to feast, to rest, to be among family and football. enjoy your busy day today, have fun cooking everyone and enjoy these amazing spaces from domosfera!

by the sea.

"the storm shall not wake thee, nor shark overtake thee, asleep in the arms of the slow swinging seas." kipling

one of my favorite quotes and perfect for decorating with paintings of the sea. i saw an interior once (of course now i can't remember where) and above the couch was nothing but paintings of the sea. all shapes, sizes, styles and from thrift stores to perhaps well known artists. but nothing else in the paintings but the ocean. just perfect.

so on this stormy, grey day on cape cod, i'm lucky to be able to drive to many vantage points and take in the ocean. i would love to incorporate a collection in my home like i described above. i'll be on the lookout now and start my collecting. enjoy this tuesday, we are closer to thanksgiving day, yeah! :)

colors of the season.

i hope your weekend was as relaxing as mine was. i'm getting more excited this year for the holidays than previous years, for various reasons, one being that i'm currently a full time student with not alot of other distractions. which is a treat.
i've rounded up some fall color palettes that i'm currently drawn to and seeking for decorating the thanksgiving dinner table, and the house.

i'll be at home this thanksgiving. my mother is in rehab (with a broken hip, poor thing), so we'll be bringing her a plate of yummy eats, including home made pie. can't wait! there is certainly alot to be thankful for this year. enjoy these thanksgiving color palettes as you too get ready for the upcoming holiday of feasting :)

it's friday, check your clock with faire houre.

one of the things i would do, if i was granted all the time in the world spontaneously, would be to surf etsy. seriously. one needs beaucoup time to see all that etsy offers.
thankfully, through decor8's blog i found the shabby chic site of faire houre, re-purposing china, into wonderful, pretty pretty clocks. have a looksy...

so...happy friday with faire houre's designs! do you have fun plans this weekend? my son's opening night for his high school play is tonight (babe's in toyland...and he's santa :) so we are looking forward to seeing him ho, ho, ho. and he has a solo song, he's just become daring enough to sing, and he's good!

wherever you land this weekend, enjoy...it's an order! :)
