fashion friday & stanton james.

"stanton james
to create an urban, modern shopping experience was our goal. we fill the store with a mix of hard to find, independent, up & coming, eco-friendly and who knows maybe even vintage pieces. the name comes from our parents, our mothers maiden name (stanton) & our fathers name (james). 2-sisters, one mission – stanton james.com"

stash pocket dress.

bennu amethyst boot cut pants.

sweetzer ruffle collar dress.

athens dress.

http://www.stantonjames.com/elaine-beata-silk-dress-p-401.html

knit cardigan slip.

color block shrunken blazer.

fairfax single breasted vintage blazer.

mont royal jacket.

what drew me to the lines that stanton james carries is their artistic, edgy, yet feminine appeal. sort of a cross between anthropologie and urban outfitters. i love non-typical, boutique style clothing that has people wondering where any pieces you might be wearing came from. not your average mall store clothing for sure. i particurally have been loving many of their dresses. oh, and that cardigan with the ruffle slip attachment. fun with jeans and high heels. :) what are your thoughts on any of these pieces for this fashion friday? are their any you could see yourself in?

what are you up to this weekend my friends in blogland? my son has been working on a play this summer and the shows are this weekend, starting tonight. i'm looking forward to it! maybe i'll post a picture or two next week. whatever you are up to, have so much fun doing it! enjoy.

pump up your spaces with velocity.

thomas wold mushroom 7-top coffee table. "the mushroom forest table series is a new table design concept from bay area designer thomas wold. these collectible designs are available in two sizes: a three-top single-color side table/nightstand and a seven-top, multicolor coffee table. the mushroom caps function as flat table tops, each with different height and cap circumference. the "burl" base provides an extremely stable platform for the "growing" stems and caps. the mushroom forest series of tables provide a dramatic setting for objects such as glasses, books, vases, or alarm clocks or simply serves as a reminder to be happy."

molo urchin textile soft light. i may have posted about this light before (i forget!) but i don't mind doing it again since they are extraordinary to say the least, dreamy, etherial and their glow is intoxicating. "the urchin softlight has a unique character that is irresistible, inviting playful interaction. the three-dimensional geometry of the urchin will morph through a multitude of forms as you rotate it through and around its own centre with your hands. the elastic movement and shifting organic form are akin to sea creatures and the pieces feel almost alive…with a little imagination."

ponoko pollen pendant light. "the pollen pendant is hanging lamp that is designed to be totally unique. by wrapping and weaving the material of choice around this pollen shaped structure, the user is able to provide their own personal touch to this modern design.
the ability to control the color, texture and material of this lamp makes this piece ideal for the truly creative. the piece shown above was created using white acrylic yarn." how fabulous is this light, imagine hanging from the ceiling of a front porch, or a cluster of them? talk about a wow factor.

this "ghost" candelabra is an intriguing tabletop accessory whether indoors or out. by innermost, it's etched lines and elegant simple base will be a conversation piece during dinner for sure.

one thing i do love about velocity is that they carry alot of products by roost which i feel is a very creative company on their own. the louver wood screen by roost has a rythmic design and utterly modern lines drawing from the geometric lattice of harwood panels.

esque water drop jug vase. i could easily see a cluster of these just about anywhere or perhpas one plunked down on your nightstand with something pretty poking out, like say peonies for me since i'm obsessed with them this year! "each glass esque creation is hand-blown and will vary slightly from piece to piece. each piece is a signed, unique, original, functional work of art.
esque glass is now all made with recycled glass stock; processed in an electric furnace that's powered by wind energy. another velocity green product!"

roost jute pattern rug. the natural organic circular shape of this roost rug is perfect for that casual entryway, front porch or even outdoor seating area. add in the natural materials used and you have a welcoming summer rug addition to any space.

ink dishes, designed by paul timman. i love their hip, tattoo-esque quality and would make for fun outdoor place settings.

"these intricately embroidered silk dupioni poufs evoke the magic of arabian nights and the smell of exotic spices. perfect for extra seating or as a luxe foot stool, the large aubergine pouf features verdant green details, the small green pouf comes with right aubergine embroidery." these poufs offer a casual corner in your home or commercial space, toning down anotherwise stiffer environment. perfect for that.

so...could you see yourself living with any of these pieces? as with all modern, funky companies you have to pick and choose, but adding that element of fun, surprise, color, texture etc. from companies like velocity or roost can certainly spunk up any environment that needs spunking. :) enjoy!

loving this, loving that.

so, right now i'm loving...

this loft space:"bynewyork is a loft space on the top floor of a building in manhattan's soho district that was designed by the architect piero lissoni. hmmm...where do i start my love list with the creation of this amazing space. first, the open floor plan, stunning in it's space alone. i also am loving the way some pieces in these spaces stretch towards the high ceilings accentuating and exposing the height this loft offers and yet other pieces like the low sectional seating areas, squat towards the floor, bringing your eyes back down and grounding you right then and there. second, the exposed ceilings, steel rafters and plumbing gives the space a real, gritty beginning. a blank canvas background. the large use of mirrors helps to expand the space from end to end and then there is the fabulous array of shapes that float through the loft, so many circles, squares and rectangles. simplifying a complex design mind at the helm.

loving this penta light. "during this year's euroluce in milan, italian lighting manufacturer penta exhibited their 2009 collection" including pieces from a number of designers.
what pulls me into this space is the flip flop of the topsy turvy way that these lights are presented. right side up and up side down, making for a very interesting lighting compostion.

this lamp fascinates me, part human in form, part robot, part light. really fun. chrorong lamps by joongho choi. "reinterpreting the ‘chong-sa-chorong’, the korean illumination device, in terms of modern thoughts. this lighting device could be hanged onto fixed metal pole, or held by hand, but most importantly when it was hanged onto a long fixed pole called ‘deung rong deh’, it would vividly show the difference between the wall and the illumination itself, building up tensions in the atmosphere. That tension could be maximized by just hanging on to the supporting pole, and I have brought along the advantageous idea from the ‘chong-sa-chorong’ which is being able to move from place to another in various directions."

"mapping the light". i love the unusual leaning motion and dangling globes that turn your head and send you thinking, "hey that's not your usual standing lamp." designed by adrien rovero.

these tasmanian oak and wool felt upholstery lights are a definite new love! called the "porcini light", it "grew from a subtle exploration into the elegantly simple form of the mushroom. a series of organic shapes and forms were reinterpreted to form these beautifully crafted and sustainable pieces."

i am loving these chairs by italian designer pedrali. i love the quality of light they allow through the material, and the two materials together, the unbreakable polycarbonate and the metal. they appear to glow, they are inviting, sturdy and fragile in appearance all at the same time.

i see them lined up like this, in a well lit space, allowing the color to shine, glow and begging you to come sit for a while.

here you go then, some tuesday eye candy love. what are you loving today? a fascinating interior you've found, a new fabric, material, lighting? that's what is great about tomorrow, you never know what you'll find! enjoy :)

live napa style.

trio metal stools. "ask any geometry teacher: three legs on a stool are actually more stable than four, as shown by the time-honored design of these vintage warehouse stools. they’re solid metal, cross-braced and riveted, yet lightweight for easy mobility, with a colorfully weathered patina. use as plant stands or small side tables too."

napa style wine barrel sink. "this clever sink is made from a wine barrel, fine-grain white oak and metal, carefully reconditioned, cleaned and sealed. it features a garden hose connector (so you can set it up just about anywhere) and a 6’ output hose for reusing sink water on your plants.
old vine round outdoor dining table. "these 80- to 100-year-old trunks come from california cabernet and chardonnay vines that have stopped producing grapes." how neat is that?

louis XV bombe chest. "the french origins of bombĂ© (“rounded”) furniture trace back to the early 1700s, when louis XV inspired designers to create more artful, stylish pieces. our tribute chest and console feature meticulously finished frames, drawers and legs with antiqued brass hardware."

olive grove rocking chair. "made entirely from vintage farm implements, the seat's natural curves are formed from antique wagon-wheel rims."

this vintage silverware dating back to the 20's and 30's, polished to perfection, gathered from estate sales vintage markets, antique stores all over the u.s. and europe, can be bought be the pound. how fantastic is that to have a completely eclectic collection for your home and your guests? i am in love with this idea :)

barrel stave bistro table. "evocative of busy, space-challenged bistros, this efficient and elegant barrel stave table is crafted with two shelves for storage and a smooth top for rustic dining. the gracefully arched legs are made of genuine barrel staves, and the bottom shelves are trimmed with authentic galvanized bands.
vintage door knob wine stoppers, monogrammed for you or a friend as a gift!

beautifully stylish woven leather bench.

michael chiarello "draws on his southern italian roots, napa valley way of life, and views on living sustainably to inspire friends and family to gather around the table and create meaningful traditions in their own lives."

i've never been to california wine country but have always love the look of some of the designs and styles that come out of this area, this experience and it's materials. what better a concept than recycling old wine barrels, metals and hardware for use on functioning, eye pleasing pieces for your home or commercial space.

are you drawn to wine country elements of design, the look, the style? i particurally was drawn to their outdoor pieces as they are so completely natural in material anyway, they just seemed to belong outdoors where we gather, dine, converse and of course drink wine! enjoy and happy monday everyone :)

anything prada. it's fashion friday everyone!

so, a little unknown tidbit about me is that i am very drawn to anything prada. do i have a prada bank account? NO. but a girl can dream. when we head up to newbury street in boston, my first 2 stops are at second time around and the closet because they feature higher end, used clothing or clothing sometimes new with the tags still on them, but someone was crazy enough not to want them. so like the vulture that i am, i'm always on the hunt for prada at these stores...and sometimes i get lucky.

all photos courtesy of style.com.

this is prada's 2010 resort collection and i had to share some of my loves. featured on style.com...prada's resort collection is fresh, full of pattern and rich colors or color blocked in simple, almost edgy jackie-o style dresses.

in my dream world, i dress myself in prada...and another favorite designer of which i'll share on a future fashion friday. on this note, do you like prada? do you own anything prada? if not, what is your favorite designer, who do you long for? my morning was completely crazy and i'm hoping yours wasn't as much and that you are happy it's almost the weekend. i'm taking my son to see "rent" on sunday and cannot wait. happy weekend everyone! :) enjoy!
