hey friday...

this friday, i hope you are looking forward to drinks with friends, and hunkering in somewhere warm & cozy and comfortable....
(via)
i have to say, i've been going non-stop between work and graduate work. so i. am. ready. to chill. we are in the last days of amazing fall weather in my part of the world, so i am definitely getting outside. i actually walked on the beach the other day, feet in water and it still felt as if i could have jumped in and swam. so gorgeous still. so...an october swim is not out of the question ;)

what about you? i'd love to hear what you are up to this weekend, enjoy!

personality seating.

every now and then i come across a furniture company or particular designer that is creating seating, with personality...in this instance, kallemo is one of those companies. have a look!
what i mean by this is that each and every piece seems to have its own personality, its own identity. it exudes either a bravado, a quietness, a boldness or an attitude that is interesting and captivating.

i once wanted to create an amazing wine/coffee bar, with rooms full of unique, very personality based seating, every seat different from the next. nothing matching. (i literally scoured the internet, putting together inspiration boards full of hard to find seating, unusual seating) and you know why? we are all different. you could approach this seating area and select where to sit, and on what, based on what drew your personality to it. i never did build such a space. but if i find one, i'm soooooooo there. enjoy!

feeling creative.

i love this picture of pablo picasso. it's so free, he is in his element, creating whatever and wherever he wants to...he once said "the important thing is to create, nothing else matters; creation is all."
(via)
i just turned in my thesis proposal (or at least the first version, it will be sent back for revision more than once) and i'm feeling this sense of freedom and creativity in what i accomplished...at least what i accomplished today.

i hope your day is feeling innovative, creative and productive. it's such a good feeling...enjoy!

elle moss. etsy love.

elle moss is an etsy site operating out of saline michigan. she takes lots of pictures. and puts some of them on pillows. lucky me...
elle's influences are silent films, dreams and surrealism. if you check out her etsy site you can see all of that. and more. these were a few of my favorites. i wonder which ones you'd pick? enjoy!

slits and slats house, san francisco.

this home stopped me this afternoon. it's both striking and original...

the home, designed by mechanical engineer jan moolsintong and industrial designer peter russell-clarke sits on top of a hill in san francisco, overlooking the mission district. full of wooden slits and slats and porthole windows (that open!) the home also has just about the most usual garage door i've ever seen (in 4th photo down) custom built by raimundo ferreira.

an amazing home, done differently, to see more photos, head here. enjoy!

instagram ocean.

it's raining, i'm goofing off. i'm attempting to get motivated to type all day (thesis) and instead i'm staring at very cool ocean shots on this instagram site...
i've set aside this day, with a deadline for later, to submit this thesis proposal. i can do this. despite the rain. i've got this.

what about you? how is your mid-week wednesday starting off? are you day dreaming or getting important things done? i'd love to hear. i'm somewhere in between...enjoy.

a winter home.

you know, as you start, or as i start to contemplate winter (not my favorite season by the way), your mind wanders to spaces/places that are comforting, warm, places that soothe you during the long winter months...
winter...oh, it's coming. and this clean lined yet warm and cozy home, this "bitterli house" located in zurich switzerland and designed by roger stussi is captivating. it's an environment that i could curl up in, appreciate winter in (yes i said appreciate winter). it's a space to breathe in, to allow the inner environment pair with the outer environment. winter. so maybe i should start looking at it a different way. enjoy...

a really perfect sofa.

every now and then you come across just really great design. so really great that it's almost perfect...
this "tuck" sofa, designed by uhnger studio starts with revealing the "beauty of visual construction." another words, by letting the wooden frame shine, by incorporating that frame straight into the overall design, you are reminded of the "traditional way of constructing a padded product."

the piece gets its name because the fabric is so neatly "tucked" into the corners, and the rounded details of both the fabric and the legs offset the very rectangular nature of the tuck sofa. but one of the things i really love is just that, that the sofa is so perfectly left to become its own landscape. when placed in either your residential or commercial space, it is yours to do what you will....i love that! enjoy...

kip & co.

i'm loving all of the bright, patterned home stuffs coming out of the australian based company kip & co...
(via)
alex, kate and hayley, 3 australian girls started up kip & co and seek pattern, texture and color inspiration from the nature around them while on backpacking adventures. their dream: to design "vibrant, beautiful, distinctive bedding." check...they've done that. enjoy!

light chairs. and happy monday!

ok, these are cool. these "nuvola di luce" (translated) "cloud of light" chairs designed by studio thesia progetti for natevo...
these chairs appear to float. they come equipped with or without light. with light, they come completely alive with an integrated floor level light/luminous panel. i don't know about you, but i have to go with the light on these. imagine your residential space with just one, or a commercial space (a very amazing outdoor sitting area/bar/lounge area) with many of these cloud of light chairs? ah, yeah...that's what i'm talking about.

i hope that your long weekend was reeeeeeelaxing. enjoy!

pigve. korean clothing love.

i often call my son "an old soul." and truth be told, sometimes i feel the same way. let me put it this way. if someone told me everyone on the planet was going to disappear the for the day, just one day, and i could run around and do whatever i wanted. one of things  i would do is snoop through people's attics, through old clothes, hats, things that have a history, a soul...
this new-to-me clothing line offered up by the korean company pigve tempts me with new clothing, but with an old soul feel.

there is a classic but comfortable charm about pigve's line of clothing and accessories. it's like this: if you put on one of their dresses, you feel that you might never take it off. and that you could wear it just about anywhere, and dress it up or down in just about every way possible. i love that! enjoy...

happy friday friends!

hey hey for fridays! i thought i'd share with you one more photo of the smoky mountains, from my recent trip to tennessee...
you can't really tell here, but in certain areas, the foliage was becoming super colorful. if we were there about one week later, (this week), it would have been spectacular i'm sure.

what are you up to this holiday weekend? i'm working and working on my thesis. but in between all of that, i really want to see this movie, i want to (against every bone in my body) change my clothes out from summer to fall/winter, read a little (maybe outside in the fall sun), and sip a little red wine. well, that's every weekend ;) wherever you go, whatever you do, i hope your weekend is all that you want it to be...enjoy!

do it yourself bucket stool.

so i thought this was cool. a perfect little stool, incorporating mixed mediums, wood & concrete & paint. and the possibilities are what's really fun about this do it yourself bucket stool...have a watch.

super easy, super cheap. and think about it...you could add gold or silver paint to the legs. or tape them off and stripe them with different colors. you really could have alot of fun with this project. a great weekend do it yourself. just saying...enjoy!
