a pretty way to post things.

how fun are these magnetic feathers offered up by mineheart? for posting things, attaching things, hanging things? i really like the white ones...
oh, and you can add a self-adhesive magnet to the back of just about anything, just in case your surface isn't metal. sold in sets of 5 and in white or a mixture of woodland tones. what would you do with these? i think i'd have these holding random photos/ideas/inspiration and anywhere in my house. love. these. feathers.
enjoy!

miniforms.

the beautiful italian company miniforms started out designing small tables, in 1962. now, working with avant garde, young italian designers, miniforms has evolved into the design of chairs, larger tables & bookcases. another thing i love about miniforms besides the designs?

the fact that they, being avant garde and all, utilize an array of interesting and daring materials, such as aluminum, glass, & sheet metal. i love designers that aren't afraid to incorporate unusual/textural materials in their pieces. because after all, that only makes it a more fabulous design world, chock full of amazing options...here are a few of my favorite miniform pieces...
what's not to love? enjoy!

fire bulbs. for fall.

as we ease slowly (slowly i tell you, i'm clinging to summer still. i'm one of those people!), i wanted to share with you this brilliant/fun/more than interesting light bulb, by fukusada design, evocative of fire & wood, perfect for the upcoming season(s).
and think about it...whether you hang one, or some, in either a residential or commercial space, they are still, just plain cool i mean hot. enjoy!

inga powilleit photography.

apparently i'm behind the curve on enjoying the interior eye~candy of inga powilleit and her incredibly comfortable spaces.
there is a divisive line between cluttered and comfortable, between messy and just plain interesting. inga powilleit captures the places & spaces, of designers, artists, celebrities and every day people.

on inga's site, she writes about how she loves telling stories, and that "with photographs, i can create different worlds that tell my stories." so, much like writers or designers, or artists, this medium too expresses the soul of people, the interior of hearts and minds. i love that! enjoy...

lammhults. graphic design.

these addit chairs paired with these dexter powdered coated metal stools? yes please...an afternoon fab find.
and lammhults the company? also a fab find. their mantra is "the best design is timeless." well there you have it, well said. to see more of lammhults's product line, head here. oh, and enjoy!

p.s. new video/music under my "likes & listens" tab today too....

council. good design.

happy monday morning friends! i wanted to share some really good design offered up by the designers at council. council prides itself on creating each piece with " the purest expression of its original design concept." oh, and just really good design.
for some reason this monday morning, i'm loving council's pieces all in white. there is a simmering quietness with council's pieces. yet the quiet is thrown of with interesting curves and connections, separations of wood, as in their bench stools. little subtleties that draw you in, noticing the melting pot of designers from around the world that council utilizes. you can tell...

how was your weekend? mine was busy but i did manage to sip a glass of red wine (yeah, that wasn't hard), visit my son at college and take him to dinner, annnnnnddddddd.....spent a couple of hours on the beach reading for class. at least it was at the beach ;) enjoy!

two new metallics.

loeffler randall has me envious of all things metallic for the fall. these joanna welted oxfords and those allie wedge booties are right up my ally, with rolled up jeans, or brand new black leggings and my favorite slouchy sweater. "a mix of sophistication and downtown cool."
pricey, but sooooooooooooo cool. enjoy!

friday punch.

i just love how ali throws off this otherwise provincial space. perfectly too.
(via)
a friday punch for ya. enjoy!

friday. & la chance in france.

happy friday friends! you've done it, you've made it to the weekend ;) skimming along la chance's innovative site this morning, a few amazing lighting options stood out. the first one is my favorite, but i love them all. have a look...
so, let's talk about the first lamp. the base is carrara marble (ah, yeah) and the shade is metal, perforated, & simply stunning. the key on the side turns the light on and off. how cool is that? so cool, that's what!

and so, it's the weekend right? what do you have planned? i unfortunately (i'm sounding like a broken record here) have a ton of graduate work to catch up on. but the weather is like summer still, days in the 80's here. so with that, i'm hoping some reading time (even if it is for class) on the beach will be a reality. ;) enjoy your weekend everyone!

thread embroiders space. softly.

faig ahmed's thread installation has stopped me this afternoon. i'm seeing some inventive and creative uses for spools of thread lately. and this one takes the cake...
anthropologie, with all of their amazing store windows and uses of found objects has a thread theme going right now. at least in their store in harvard square. i could have stared at it for like an hour straight. threads, colored threads offer something soft and promising to a space. as if something amazing is about to happen or about to be spun or be created. threads hold aniticipation for me. not to get too deep or too analytical about threads you understand. it's just my thought. enjoy!

1616 arita japan ceramics.

i wanted to share with you this thursday morning some of the exquisite~ness, the porcelain offered up by arita japan. arita's ceramics are a combined thinness and strength. beginning with their own "standard" series, arita soon invited "dutch designers scholten & baijings to develop their own line named color porcelain." this color line is my favorite. there is something new about the way they interpret yellow, or red or blue. have a look...
the numbers 1616 come from the fact that in the year 1616, koreans first introduced the art of pottery to japan. the rest they say, is history. i love this line.

how are you this thursday friends? i'm heading up to boston to get a bunch, ok, ALOT of coursework stuff done at harvard. sometimes you just have to be there. so i will. i hope this thursday is finding you creative, inspired and energized. enjoy!

just whoa color.

this afternoon, this is just whoa color. the pinks, the reds, the movement, the stillness, all of it, is just...whoa.
intense. dreamy. moving. featured on oh my leftovers. one of my favorite photographers. enjoy!

domus. it's all about the shades.

this mid~week wednesday, i'm all about these shades. light shades that is. domus offers up a "light brings life" mentality. and with regard to interior design, domus calls lighting a "discrete element, also referred to as the fourth dimension in space." they also state that the affect of light also affects people, places. so true. and this is why i love this company and these lights...here are a few of my recent fav's...
there is an easy yet interesting textural element with these shades, modern yet not stand~off~ish. domus nails it with that. all of that!

how is your mid~week morning starting off. well, i made my coffee too weak (excuse for heading out for a mocha later as redemption), i have a gigantic work load in front of me (all inspiring but still, it's alot) and the sun is out. so with that, i'm off. the mocha and the sun will keep me going...enjoy your day friends!
