what are you up to? anything fun? i won tickets on a radio station to this event. it sounds spectacular and perfect in remembering my dad this weekend as he worked with flowers all of his life. it would make for a beautiful father's day even though he can't be with me.

i'll be sure to take some photos and share them next week. hmmm, sipping champagne, listening to jazz music and viewing all of those amazing gardens and flower arrangements? sounds perfect. i hope that you have the best weekend ever! enjoy!

amai saigon ceramics.

i seem to go in and out of loving ceramics. they can appear clunky and thick and not exactly what i want my kitchen cabinets stocked with. but amai saigon ceramics turned my ceramic skeptical head recently...

amai saigon is ingrid ploem (dutch) and ina stas (belgian), and with original roots outside of vietnam, they have lived in asia over twenty years, now selling to retailers in vietnam, japan, and the netherlands.

their pieces are delicate, in design and in color. i am drawn to the imperfect shapes, the almost circles, the way they stack, the way they stand alone. they are really just lovely. find amia saigon ceramics here. and enjoy!

5 rugs.

beklina, the northern california based eco-boutique (built by a mom and 2 daughters!) is offering up a variety of rugs that are to die for!

many of my favorites are from morocco, many are one of a kind and with patterns designed by woman and from virgin raw wool. the color palettes, the patterns and texture have me wishing for one of everything. or at least one. enjoy!

asher israelow's designs.

i'm drawn today to the original and small batch pieces designed and offered by asher israelow...

asher grew up in new york and graduated from the rhode island school of design, in both subjects of fine art and architecture. according to his website "he currently works at the brooklyn navy yard designing buildings and building furniture."

oh, and i love how asher has written this descriptive line on his "about me" page: "each piece narrates the story of its materials, with an honest approach to joinery and a touch of conceit." wow.

amazing artist & designer, thoughtful and lovely pieces...and probably the coolest eye glass wearer ever. enjoy!

frances may.

lately loving some of these looks offered up by frances may...

frances may is the carefully curated and combined talent boutique of grandmother connie codding and granddaughter pamela baker-miller. and both call it a "fashion haven." cool right? from brooklyn n.y. to portland oregon they have landed. forging new paths, tempting us with "considered design" (their words, which i LOVE) and just overall fabulous fashion. enjoy!

swell water bottles.

i have to admit i'm not much of a bring your own water bottle kind of girl...i'm a get that paper cup and toss it in the trash kind of girl (at least at work!).

but these wild water bottle designs, offered up by southmoonunder, and with names such as "noir zebra", "beach cottage", and "santorini sunset" have made me reconsider the bring your own water bottle to work thing. enjoy!

how about you? the one thing that's on my agenda this weekend is to actually plan some summer fun, ahead of time. concerts, short road trips, a longer trip? who knows. with our fast paced schedules, it's easy to not notice the outdoors as much as you'd like. the sun, the summer smells and the overall sense of summer. if you experience winter like i do in my part of the world, you (if you are like me anyway) count every minute of this season.

i'll let you know what i come up with, which summer fun things i have planned. for now, enjoy your friday, get excited for your upcoming weekend, you deserve it!...and enjoy!

recto-verso lights.

so, these are pretty neat...

they're called recto-verso lights and they are designed and offered up by the french design studio (and designer) bina baitel. it's a reversible lamp, made from" organic light-emitting diodes made of carbon and hydrogen-based materials," the light is extremely lightweight, and designed as a "free standing structure with a leather pull-over sheath like the pouch of a touch pad."

what i really enjoy about these is the versatility and the overall simple, yet interesting design. you alter the light, you interact with the light, you design how the light will shine, where, & how intense. it's all very interactive and lovely. check out more of bina baitel's designs here. she's on my designer watch list! enjoy!

new from pia design.

these new handmade vessels designed and finished by pia wustenberg of piadesign have stopped me today...

incorporating materials such as soap stone, copper, brass, glass & natural edge wood into a variety of her vessels makes for a captivating overall presence in design. then add in the color, the melting colors, the ombre feel of both color from lighter to stronger and the thickness of the glass, transitioning from thinner to thicker are gorgeous, to say the least.

head to pia's site, she depicts the vessels being used in different ways, holding paint brushes, burning candles, to shining all on their own. in case you had a question as to what to do with them after you are done staring. ;) enjoy!

a home in greece to die for.

i'm just back from a run and then running out the door. but i wanted to share with you this stunning home, located in tyros greece, by architects valia foufa and panagiotis papassotiriou, clad in arcadian stone and overlooking the sea. have a look...

the home was featured on the contemporist, one of my favorite sources for new and dynamic architectural design, showcasing brilliant architects, up and coming artists and designers and beautiful photography to top it off. i've never been to greece, have you? i imagine it at times, and from now on, i will imagine the view like this. see more and read more about this home here. enjoy!
