happy easter weekend!

what a better way to celebrate an upcoming easter weekend than through the amazing artwork of indianapolis-based artist casey roberts...
i realized casey's work through the jealous curator site and found it captivating. you can read more about the civil war era technique (no really!) that casey uses in the, what he calls "not so nerdy as you think" artistic process of achieving these paintings. it has to do with using sunlight, light sensitive mediums and other household ingredients such as baking soda, bleach and peroxide. casey's love and respect of nature comes through in all of this paintings, which at times read as block prints or illustrations. the medium is curious. the subject matter is familiar but somewhat fantastic and magical in some ways. at least to me. it's also amazing!

i hope that you have a suuuuuuuuuper relaxing long weekend. & that maybe if you reflect on nothing else, take in nature. and how amazing it is too.
