have a summer weekend!

and hot. which i'm NOT complaining about. this weekend looks to be equally as jam packed with summer weather. in between a little bit of work, i'll be plunked on the beach, being still, being quiet...and totally taking in summer.

i did manage to get my first swim in last week. that was theraputic and it felt amazing. i hope that wherever you are in the world, that you are enjoying the summer in the way that you do. i'd love to hear how you celebrate summer, in your own special way. enjoy!

william james broadhurst.

i came across the photography of william james broadhurst on miss moss's blog. and i found myself mesmerized by not only his work, but by the light...

i've always wondered, when one is an artist (of any medium), how they see such beauty all of the time. what i mean by that is that i feel that i see those moments, from time to time, those snapshots of amazing that you could, in that rare moment, capture it in a painting, or a photograph. but the people who stand out from all the rest are those that see those moments all the time.

william james broadhurst is 23 years old and lives in melbourne australia. he is a visionary of light. his work is sensitive, soft, evocative of a dream. it's surreal and real. and it's beautiful. enjoy!

summer spaces (with a little green).

i'm SO completely drawn lately to light, lovely spaces with hints/pops of greens in them...

in fact it seems that at times, we overlook greens, for the color or variety of a number of flowers. and don't get me wrong, i'm a peonie-loving person to the MAX. but in many situations, many spaces and places, commercial or residential, a small or larger amount of something green, and only green nails it. perfectly really. just saying. enjoy!

now this is a cabin.

i saw this cabin recently over at selectism. it's designed by australian-based maddison architects, in moonah australia. it's full of angles, it's "decidedly modern" as the article reads and very stealth in it's overall appearance (plus a built in wine rack, score!)...

i also really like the height differential throughout. high and low meeting areas, it offers a sort of flow to the overall interior space. and when you think cabin, the first thought is often dark, heavy, thick woods, the kind so dark, that (to me), are almost smothering of the space.

this particular cabin is filled with light, bright wood. and a ton of large clear windows allow for lots of light. even better. so surrounded by nature with modern amenities? pretty much perfection i would say. enjoy!

gervasoni.

the italian design company gervasoni is on my product~loving radar today...

fresh fun lines, & unusual (and sometimes edgy) materials. this would be a product line that i would pull from if my client was somewhere in the middle. of desiring old mixed with new, of classic mixed with an occasional wow piece, in the middle of being stately and just a little bid punk loving.

gervasoni also boasts sustainability, and holds several environmental certifications. so there's that too. i just love finding new designers, new product lines that somehow stop me, they make me consider multiple options and allow me to have fun doing it. enjoy!

in my part of the world, this weekend is setting up to be pretty amazing weather-wise (thank you very much!). i have to say, the summer has not quite felt like summer yet here. not hot yet, not summery yet. hard to explain, just not feeling it yet. so BRING IT ON THIS WEEKEND!

shift lights.

the design firm shift has created these very geometric pendant lamps, emulating urban landscapes and modern city structures, (like this even)...

i really like these, i really like them in stark black and white color palettes. there is a definite tension they create and emulate, but the softness of the light transforms the lamp in such a way as to give a stiff, metallic structure a sense of a lighter edge. lighting that stops you,that  makes you consider it, to consider such dynamics, lighting that moves you in some way...is a good thing. enjoy!

designer farrah sit.

designer, farrah sit, whose ethos is "own less and own well" is on my radar lately...

a graduate of the rhode island school of design, farrah spent years in the fashion industry designing lines for designers like calvin klein and vera wang. farrah is based in new york and designs with "exacting attention to detail coupled with a quiet minimalism."

i find each piece striking. and in a particular way. the line, the material used in the design, and for me, the way each piece sits, if that makes sense. check out farrah's lookbook here, to see more of her work and placed in particular ways. and enjoy!
