complete table love.

new york city based gallery & showroom, matter is offering up some AMAZING table options...
but i'm not going to sugar coat it, they are not for the faint of wallet...

according to matter they "represent a refined selection of national and international contemporary designers," and detects "what lies beyond the horizon in design." um, and it shows. browsing through the table designs matter features (oh, and everything else, lighting, seating, storage options etc.) i was literally tripping over spectacular to the even more spectacular. it really doesn't end.

these were a few of my absolute favorites (if pressed to select only a few). but there were more, oh so many more. enjoy!

monday & load chairs.

lately loving these "load" chairs offered up by the seriously fabulous italian design company billiani...
made from solid beech and with the two back options of colored rope or solid wood, these "load" chairs are fun, interesting and as billiani states "are designed to bestow a new mood on the chair." i want one in every color. enjoy!

i saw her live last weekend. just so great! enjoy...

have a happy holiday!

i'ts funny how amongst the daily stresses of life, job, you name it, that once things settle, once things quiet down, the tiny bad particles of all of that fall away and the lighter brighter bits linger, they become more clear, you are energized & inspired, to be you, to just be. there is alot to be thankful for...

that's all i have today. enjoy your thanksgiving!

revolution design house.

portland oregon based revolution design house is tempting me today bigtime with these geometric painted sidecar & boxcar planters...
made from a clean walnut and painted with accents of color such as robins egg blue and orange, dylan lynch and joe gibson, founders of revolution design house believe that you should "love what you own". well i'd love to own one of their planters. and what about grabbing one as an interesting christmas gift? just saying...enjoy!

monday & rackk & ruin.

now that i'm really looking towards christmas gift ideas (no, not for me. no! ha!), i'm stumbling over the prettiest things, like this beautiful line of jewelry offered up by designer molly conant & rackk & ruin. have a look...
"rackk & ruin is a sun drenched studio and retail shop" in burlington vermont. and if you are not living in or visiting burlington vermont any time soon (though i encourage you too, it's beautiful!) at least we can purchases molly's original jewelry pieces on line. phew!

and she offers up so much more than earrings. i just had to focus on one line that i loved! see more here, and get xmas shopping! enjoy...

the felted "alice" light.

the german design company moree is offering up these nordic inspired felt table lamps. and i think they are fun...
i first noticed this company by stumbling over their even more fun light up coffee tables (see here). but these "alice" lights are a new line. the shades tilt (if you want them too) to adjust the light. the height of each lamp can also be adjusted. i love the textural element that each piece adds and then the overall design, there is something sort of simply captivating about each one. a quiet sense of calm really. can that resonate from a lamp? in this case, yes, yes it can. enjoy!

great christmas gift ideas.

i've been stumbling over some items, artworks, jewelry, (you name it!) that have, in my mind, been great christmas gift ideas. if you are in need of some easy inspiration, have a look...

how about the gift of original artwork? like this above?

a funny (but true!) book.

easy every day mugs.

such fun party purses.

unusual cylinder candle holders.

artistic phone cases.

loving this boxcar planter in walnut and robin's egg blue.

an inspirational book to give.

fun for winter/holiday(s) this shaggy sequin cube pouf.

a float ring for every day.

simply beautiful coiled bamboo bowls.

for the gentle woman.

just a pretty gold necklace.

speaking of gold, give the gift of luck with this.

like vintage? how about a vintage brass paper holder.

leather booties (and not that expensive!).

i happen to want these boots. just saying... ;)

enjoy!

inform design.

this low profile home by the australian residential and construct company inform has captured my architectural attention today...
(photography: hilary bradford & derek swalwell)

inform refers to this particular retreat design as "coastal modernity." the long & lineal roof design perfectly "caps the entire building." and the natural color palette and materials used such as oiled white oak floors, marble counter tops and white mosaic tiles add texture and interest. see more of this dynamic home here. and read more on the pdf, here. & enjoy!

monday & martinich & carran ceramics.

melbourne artists geoffrey carran and rowena martinich are creating some amazing ceramic dishes...
both in australia and internationally, geoffrey and rowena have been commissioned to paint large murals on the sides of buildings as well as more collectible artworks. this particular line of abstract dishes are high fired and coated with a gloss apoxy resin. these particular plates are painted by rowena (and see her abstract pillows here too!). i love the splashy thick lines. they make a statement wherever you choose to place or hang them. sometimes you just need color, you know? enjoy!

have a super weekend!

it's friday! what are you up to?
(via)
i'm headed to boston to hang out in a few of my favorite second hand shops and drink the best coffee around. not a bad day! took a few days off this week, much needed. took my son to see spectre, pure entertainment. and as usual, the intro to a james bond film is dizzying (now i know i definitely do not like helicopters). so fun though! besides that i've been eating too much (ah, what you do on days off right?!) and sleeping late.

i hope that you have an amazing weekend. i will most likely be around on sunday with more music inspiration...until then, enjoy!

shino takeda planters.

new york based japanese ceramicist shino takeda's planters have captured me today...
you can find them on the koromiko site here, a site founded by new zealander turned texan, tracey george who's mission is to promote and support independent designers like shino and her work.

shino grew up on kyushu island in southern japan and was influenced by her mother's ceramic collection. she creates perfectly imperfect pieces and in the fashion of traditional japanese forms with "new york freshness". i love the subtle color palette and soft blurry lines sort of bleeding from each piece. just gorgeous! enjoy...
